I still find it stupid that to get max spelldmg/dmg with spells, you have to use a freaking sword...as a wizard of the mages guild etc etc.. (archetype wizard)

@Asayre the 2035 are wrong. Tested it on PTS and only 1885 also enough for using 2h. I tested it on following way:

    DW

    5x Overwhelming
    1x Randomset
    1x Molag Kena
    3x Willpower
1x Agility and 1x Endurance Sword

(Total Stats: 32982 Magicka, 2262 Magicdamage)

    2h

    5x Overwhelming
2x Randomsets (I switched Molag Kena to simulate the lose of 129 Magicdamage, like you do it with 2 Torugs Swords)
    3x Willpower
    1x Endurance 2h Sword

(Total Stats: 32982 Magicka, 2022 Magicdamage)

    Unequipped: 451 Magicdamage x 0,525 + 32982 Magicka x 0,05 = 1885

I prefer DW since you get the extra set bonus, which for me is the 200 some spell damage from willpower. Think about it, 2 willpower swords + willpower neck = full set of 3, then you can add 2 endurance rings with magicka on them for a 2 set health bonus plus more magicka.

@MrTarkanian48, I read the tooltip for Funnel Health and I think it will benefit from using 2H since the heal is based off damage. This sounds similar to Puncturing Sweep where the heal is also a percentage of the damage done. The difference in spell power between Destro and Dual wield is around 347 Spell Damage.

@ChefZero, could you use Major Sorcery to test both setups? Without Major Sorcery the threshold is 1696.

I tried something similar on the PTS with the setup you used.

DW SD 2262, Mag 31283, Funnel health tooltip 5255
    2H SD 2022. Mag 31283. Funnel health tooltip 5265
    Unequipped: 451*0.525 + 31283*0.05 = 1800

    With Major Sorcery
DW SD 2714, Mag 31283, Funnel health tooltip 5708
    2H SD 2426. Mag 31283. Funnel health tooltip 5691
    Unequipped: 541*0.525 + 31283*0.05 = 1848

@Vaelen, that is a pretty good idea. When I first thought about using 2H I was thinking specifically between Torugs dual wield and Torug 2H and it was also before ZOS bumped the Willpower set by 50%. If you go the path you suggested the threshold is higher thus favouring dual wielding.

It's no longer of interest. I got my new gear and hit the 37k Magicka. :D

thanks for the informative post, in 1.7 i heard that dual swords with nirnohed were giving more penetration than a destro staff with nirn, do you know if its the same for 2h swords? this might make some difference, especially in pvp, thank you

I have yet to hear that dual nirnhoned swords give more penetration than nirnhoned destro staff for class skills. I believe that the penetration values are the same. Each sword's spell penetration is half that of a nirnhoned staff and since penetration stacks additively it should be the same.

In the Orsinium PTS, the calculation for Twin blade and blunt and Heavy Weapons are similar thus DW is always better than 2H in Orsinium.

@Asayre Realy? Sounds nice :) Are both passives now like DW or 2H?

Both passives increase the tooltip damage by 5% thus DW is better than 2H in Orsinium because DW naturally has higher spell damage and also you get an extra set bonus.

Should be a huge buff for DW... Mh so maybe I won't reroll to Maelstrom Destro cause DW is to strong.
