Stamina vs Magicka Nightblade

DarthSeverus394
Hey all. I have two vet characters, a sorc and a templar. Im thinkin about making a nightblade and just kind of need a general synopsis of stam vs magic so I can decide my race. Stam are the bow using roll dodgers and magic are the always invisible gankers? Viability, roles, and possibilities. Im not new so I can figure most of it out I just need brief opinion to give me some insight. Ive fought many so I know their cookie cutter pvp builds I just need to know the line between the two and which is which. Thanks.

The short form is: Stamina NBs have higher burst and Magicka NBs have better sustain.

Stam NBs can do well with Bow, 2H and DW thanks to having inherently better weapon power. Also the Stamina morphs on NB powers hit harder from Hide. Roll dodging took a bit hit yesterday, so no idea if it's still viable to rely on.

Magicka NBs got an indirect buff to invisibility since Detection potions won't see though Dark Cloak anymore and with Magicka as their main attribute they can afford to cloak a lot more and use a Resto staff to greater effect (hence greater sustain).

Looks like every one of their skills is magic based. Any decent stam morphs or is it like templar where you rely on skills that arent in your class. I.e. weapon skills

Stamina builds in general rely on weapon and fighters guild skills more than class skills. But if you had to pick a stamina based class, nightblade would be the stronger PVP choice while Templar will be the stronger PVE choice. Stamina builds use magicka for class skills that provide utility rather than damage (buffs, CC, shields, etc).

And it's worth mentioning that magicka nightblades will be in a much better place with the fixes to cloak and some other buffs.

i am making a new breton magicka nightblade in about one hour.

for 2 days i have been VERY undecided if i want to keep my bosmer nightblade who recently ( two months ago) went from stamina to magicka..

my issues is my bosmer has stamina regen passives, and i dont know if that will help me more then the brenton magicka passives at this point and time .

If starting new yes breton is what I would choose for magic. Possibly altmer in second place, dunmer in third. In that order. Stam would probably go redguard first, then imperial, then bosmer. Honestly if you already have one leveled dont start over. The difference from racial passives is so minimal in most cases you wont notice it. You would have to be a very serious player and be the type of ocd player looking to hit your min/maxes. If thats not you then choose what you want. Kajiht for high crits is always good. Argonian for increased healing. Etc. If your potency as a leveled nightblade is dependent that much on your racial passives in your mind then youre doing something wrong. Bosmer is a perfectly fine choice. Especially for stam builds and especially with bows. So what if you are magic nb? Youll still use stam for utility. Starting over is silly imo.

I made a Breton magicka NB the other day. Level 39 now and really happy with the choice. I don't use a destro staff, so High Elf or Dark Elf didn't really offer me anything I needed that Breton didn't have. Magicka management was a huge issue early on, but around level 30 I started crafting myself a mixture of Magnus and Seducer sets, switched to dual daggers and resto staff. No problems with magicka now. Went with vamp for magicka and stam regen mainly.. though I might cure myself now you need their abilities slotted. They have good skills, but I find the NB ones just as nice, if not better. Magicka NB is no doubt a lot of a fun, but if you're looking at using a destro staff, Sypher has a decent build over on his website.

I'm going to be making a Dunmer NB soon. I want to go vamp and I think it also works ascetically.

I am really undecided between magicka or stamina nb in this update, got both v16. in 1.6 magicka were more fun, now I do not know :open_mouth:

Stamina got helluva alot more dmg now then magicka, or maybe because my builds atm. but magicka easier to survive in IC when zergs come etc.

Unless you're min/maxing, you an pretty well compensate for any racial via CP's.

There will be differences, but they're not always as vast as you may think. (Again, unless you're min/maxing.)
Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...
