When I was PTS testing it appeared to have 1 glass fragment per 6 bags or so. So about a 1 in 6 chance (17%) for 1 fragment.

Ah mann! Prior to this update, I had so much nirncrux for sale only for it to be devalued yesterday. On top of that I need to do more research.
I don't comment here often but when I do, I get [snip]

So are you able to save the crates from the writs before the update and have potential to receive fragments in them after the update?

Oh how I wish that was the luck I had when I just opened up all my bags! :(

What really sucks is that you may get this same chapter again after finding 3 more fragments.

So, not only is it going to take a while just to get 10 fragments, but you have to hope you don't keep getting duplicates.

The only good thing about this is that the glass armour does indeed look awesome, the helm is utterly beautiful

I only received 2 fragments in 45 writ boxes. This will take a while.

9 fragments out of about 24 writs since yesterday.

Sadly only 1 of the required 10 malachite fragments so far..........that one was found while going to pick up survey.

Add to that tempers, more surveys and nirncrux from surveys and random nodes, and the two days since the update have been very RNG friendly to me. Yay for me.

This is just another example of how the only thing this patch was about is top end PvP. Everthing else was not even thought threw as to it's effect on the community at large.

So, if I am following this correctly, I just hold onto the crates / satchels that I get from turning in equipment crafting writs and then once IC is released for console, I can open up the crates / satchels and inside of them is a chance for glass frags?

Not mine, only about 1/4 of mine were. Got drops on IX crates and VII crates.
  • Kajimano_ESO
Because it was clearly stated that the higher level crates you open the higher your chances of getting page fragments, so if you opened 400 crate I or II, I don't see how you would expect to get good drop rates on the pages

Can you link to that? I recall that being stated for ambrosia, but don't remember reading that for glass motif pages. I guess I must have been lucky to get those drops from level 7 crates.

I've read the patch notes, and I just re-read them. All I see in the patch notes is that the fragments come from writs, and that you have to be rank 10 to learn the style. Nothing about the writ level and drops.

Topic: Itemization for the Imperial City DLC & Base-Game Patch

How can I get the new Xivkyn and Glass Style Motifs?
Xivkyn motif Chapters can be found in the Imperial City Trophy Vaults. They can be sold and traded with other players. There is also a low chance for the full Xivkyn motif Book to drop from the bosses in the Imperial City (in the open world, not dungeons.)

To get Glass Style Motif Chapters, you must first obtain Glass Style Motif Fragments. You have a chance of getting Glass Style Motif Fragments any time you complete a Clothier, Woodworking, or Blacksmith crafting writ (the higher tiers of crafting, the better chance.) You then combine 10 Glass Style Motif Fragments with Merethic Restorative Resin (sold in the Mages Guild locations) to create a Glass Motif Chapter. Very rarely, you may also be lucky and get the full Glass Motif Book when you perform a Glass Style Motif Fragment combination. The Glass Style Motif Fragments, Glass Style Motif Chapters, and Glass Style Motif Book can all be traded and sold to other players.

Sorry @Amarynth I was being an idiot, got annoyed with spending a lot of effort getting all the glass fragments only to see people wanting it but not willing to give anything towards it, claiming its easy to get or that I had a guild behind me (neither true)

Cheers @Kajimano_ESO for making it right

No apologies needed! I was just trying to figure out how I missed it!

I was expecting that they would include that in the patch notes, like they did when they introduced ambrosia.

Since the update, I've done two clothier writs. Second one being today. Received one glass motif fragment & ancestor silk today.
