Ok so just my personal osbservations
So they just reskinned the story from oblivion
The imperial line is cut
The dragonfires are dark
Oblivion is invading
Evil cult working against you
Portals to close
Forays into oblivion for main story
The amulet of kings is directly needed to defeat the daedric prince
Main quest requires the destruction of uber portal(great gate~great shackle)
10 story tall boss mosnster
And victory requires the sacrifice of the would be emperor
Not a bad thing all up. I quite liked oblivions story

Since they went the route of massive Daedric invasion, a lot of the variables had to be the same to make it plausible. Similarities get less and less apparent deeper into the story.0
