Imperial City - Should I sub for it?

MaxBat

I ran a sub for this game for about a year, then cancelled. Generally, I liked it, I just moved on.

I have the Imperial edition, explorers pack. The IC looks cool, but is the Crown Store worth it? What else does a sub give players?

Subbing won't hurt, and it honestly doesn't cost that much to sub for one month. There are no real downsides, and the upsides are the eso plus benefits, being able to try out the IC without necessarily buying it yet if you are unsure as to if you want it or not, and then having some crowns to go either towards IC if you liked it, or to go towards other crown store items that you may want.

Sub players will also get extra "bags" in the future to gold crafting mats outside of your current inventory.

You'd basically pay 15$ to get 1500 crowns and free access to IC for a month, to see if you like it. Add in passive xp bonuses, i'd say it might be worth it. So it's like if you bought 1500 crowns straight from the store, but with some nice stuff thrown in.

It doesn't hurt to rent it before you buy it.
You'll keep the gear, items, etc that you obtained if you decide not to buy and let your sub lapse.

^^^ This is actually the deciding factor for me. I find some of the benefits listed by phairdon more of a bother than a benefit.

    - The bonuses make you level faster but in the end you're overlevelled. Probably will be more useful now that I'm on the edge of Vet levels.

    - Access to the DLC is nice but I was planning on buying it anyway (in case I cancel my sub) so meh.

    - At first, the Crowns were kind of cool, but I quickly got what I wanted. They haven't put anything in lately that interested me, except maybe some costumes. As a result, I have about 5000 crowns I've never used.

But on the last ESO Live, they announced they would give out the crafting bags to ESO plus subbers. It seems they're only for crafting mats but it's enough to make me reconsider continuing subscribing.

Sub for a month and if you want IC use the 1500 Crowns along with another crown pack to buy IC outright.

someone told me that they will release new dlc every three months , so for me they did not remove the subscription, but force people to keep it up , the 10% bonus exp / gold are too low and dlc not worth the money ! This is only my opinion i have eso plus but I do not know how long I will continue to pay for this when there are many other MMO's that offer more and better

wait and see what the Imperial city DLC costs. Imo it's far better buying the DLC and playing for free than subscribing, especially if it costs about the same

I imagine as the game gets more things added through the evolutionary process of development that all MMOs enjoy each one will be heralded by some as an act of increased desperation. T'was ever thus  !

I subbed because I thought, why not? 10% extra XP, gold, inspiration, access to DLC and about... 2500(?) or 3000 crowns through the month, too! though I am still confused about that, because straight as I sub, I get the 1500, then another umm.. 1500 somewhere in between, I think...

I've already read the F&Q on subscribing, yet it just says you'll get the whole bunch as you sub, but I don't, unless that whole bunch is just 1500 and I'm being given magical amounts halfway through the month.

Personally I would hold off for a couple of days and see what type problems leap up tomorrow. It will shock me if you don't run into any major bugs when patch goes live.

Honestly I would wait until feedback hits the forums tomorrow.

I have a feeling that IC is going to be so lagged out from all the AOE spamming zergs that you might not even be able to play it.

I'd also like to see if ZOS even fixed some of the exploits running rampant in cyrodiil on live. i.e., overload bar, camo hunter proc, dawn breaker of smiting dot, mist form reduction, surprise strike through walls, terrain clipping, streaking across IC moat. armor penetration, multiple mundus stones, etc etc

just because they say its fixed doesn't mean it actually is. mac memory leak or toppling charge perma root anyone?
We saw "fixes" to those problems at least 4 times. I remember once they actually said that it was now impossible to get stuck using toppling charge lol.

Just don't forget that It all comes down to personal pref. You don't have to listen to others. You don't have to read the forums and wait for personal reviews of why this and that does not work, or benefit them, etc. If you depend on other people's opinions before making a decision, then it will just limit your experience on a whole, because it's about experimenting and finding out what works for you, and what doesn't.

People seem to forget this simple perceptive-process.

Of course, but what is there to hate? it's content added onto a game you already play, so it's not like you're buying an OxiClean sponge that promises to absorb farts, or something.

I prefer to be a free-thinking individual, rather than just go on what other people say all the time.

I understand your thought process there - I too like to have unlimited access to stuff, but why not just buy it afterwards if you decide to cancel your sub? For example, what if subbing gives better benefits down the track and you decide to keep it anyway?

Quarterly yeah? I guess that might explain it then, well.. I've been subbed for only 2 months, so I don't know about that but are you saying that when I reach quarter of a year with my continued subs, I'll get 4500 crowns as soon as I sub again? or do you mean as in total, from day 1 of subbing... :open_mouth:

@CrowsDescend - basically you get your crowns when ever you pay for you subs. So depends on how you decided to pay for your membership - if paying monthly you will get your 1500 crowns every month. If paying for 90 days at a time then would get 4500 etc. If you have recurring payments you get the crowns just after the each payment goes off.

Basically the choice comes down to

1, if you buy dlc with crowns, it will be $5 cheaper, but you are buying a cat in a bag. If you don't like it, you're stuck with it.

2, if you instead sub for 2 months, you will get to play it for 2 months, and after that, you can decide whether you want to spend the crowns(which you got for free with the sub) on IC or save them for orsinium.

If you are sure you will like IC, got with 1, if you aren't, go with 2.
