So on ESO live 8/28 they said crafting materials is gonna be the same when U7 goes live at VR 16 gear costing like 150 materials cause they "want the best gear in the game to be costly and worth it". Well ZOS if I recall most of the drop sets are way better than anything we can craft and the new drop sets and monster helms really isn't helping your statement. Plus how is it fair when players will have to farm mats for hours to days or waste piles of gold buying the material just to make one piece of gear yet players who want drop sets have to grind in a dungeon or boss 3 or 4 times? How is that fair to the crafters ?

ZOS there is nothing wrong with crafting so please reduce the cost of VR16 gear to a more reasonable amount cause crafted gear isn't as powerful as some players are making it out to be. Sure seducer or hunding rage is good but it's hardly OP.

And for those players who think crafting is so OP then why are you wasting time trying to get dropped gear instead of using crafted gear?

Mats will be scarce at first in a few weeks there will be plenty to go around.

Yea for 10,000 gold for 100 materials.

I just need the mats (ingots, etc) and runes from this update. Also, almost forgot about the waters for alchemy. Other than that, Ill just grind my 2 levels out and craft V16 non IC update sets and get my V16 Engine guardian and im finished with it. Guess we will see what orsinium brings to the table in 4 months.......

I know right, They have to make it more expensive because it will be more powerful than the V16 gear you have.........

So ZOS see a pattern here yet??? Waca gonna do when Orsinium drops and it become VR18 ? Make it 500 materials just cause crafting "is so much more powerful" ?

It gets better, They talk about eventually doing away with the VR levels and making you rely on your cp to use gear..... They even hint at a possible CP cap. It just gets more and more interesting....

Right now on PC/EU the guild stores are being played by a number of people who are spiking up the prices for normal mats. Nightwood, for instance, used to be had for about 15g/piece. In most guild stores in Craglorn, Rawl'kha, Wayres, etc, you now can only find it at 35-60g/piece. This has been going on for weeks, and we're talking about mats that you literally just pick up off the ground.

If it keeps up, it will be fun to see the outrageous prices these market manipulators are going to set for the new materials, which are actually rare.

Damn I _knew_ I should've sold my 200 Nightwood instead of using them on crafting writs :P

*sigh* Look, people, ZOS have decided to devalue crafting so that they can get people into the gear grind to lend credibility to their next DLC release.

This isn't supposed to be fair. There is not supposed to be any sense of comparative parity. They have intentionally chosen to decrease its usefulness and will nerf that again if it ever shows signs of being equally useful again.

Case in point: I asked a question in the ESO AUA thread about whether VR16 mats would be IC only or whether they would be available to us non-PvP folks. I did this two ESO live's ago. Reponse from ZOS? Deafening silence.

    There's your answer, folks.

Uh you do know new and old dungeons will scale to VR16 and drop the correct loot so you don't need to PvP or even have IC to get the new mats.

Yes, I do know this. I am not sure how placing the means of supply behind group content, in addition to PvP, rather than making it available in the world as a harvestable is much of an improvement though.

Imo the crafted armor should be better than the drops. If not then there is no point in crafting.

It does bother me that you have up to 60ish days to learn a trait and still the armor is worse comparatively.

Im hoping eventually the crafted armor will be better than drops.... i hope...

For entire sets yes, crafted should be better. However the monster mask type 2 pc sets should still have epic bonuses and be difficult to find.

Ever since Craglorn and Nincrux ZOS has made it hard to gather weapon and armor crafting materials. You had a 100 to 1 change of finding Nirncrux why? There should of been deposits of the material in the Craglorn environment like Voidstone, and Nightwood etc. Now the V15 and 16 material. Only way to get that is kill Bosses and high level mobs in IC. Why again. Those mats should of been readily available for farming in the Cyrodiil environment and Craglorn. What ever brain child dreamed that crap up should have his or her head examined. Even the new v15 and 16 enchanting mats are hard to get. What happened to the rune stones and farming them in the environment. Ya eventually mats will be available in the guild stores but at a hefty price. Heck saw one piece of Sanded Ruby Ash in a guild store and the seller wanted 900 gold for it. So if V15 and 16 gear is going to take 100 plus mats to create well as an example to craft a staff using Sanded Ruby Ash at a cost of lets say what I saw in the guild store for one at 900 gold, 100 would cost you 90,000 gold.
At the very least make the mats available in the Crown Store for folks to purchase.

Agree, crafted should be better than drops. It was one of the most appealing things about the game to me, and I'm not even about crafting. But it's about accessibility.
