Guild sizes (minimum)

Docdaws

Why is it that to recieve any benefits of being in a guild you have to have 10 members minimum? What if you dont have 10 people you want to form a guild with, or you want to keep it private so it isnt abused?

I think the minimum member limit should be dropped to 5 or even lower to 2, that way people can benefit from the increased bank space across characters and help friends with resource gathering without worrying if someone else is going to take it all.

Any comments on this are welcomed, and feedback from GM's would be fantastic.

I would agree but maybe scale the bank size and such with the number of members so that 2 people can't just take advantage of a full size guild bank.

That could work, and id have no issue with that, as long as it wasnt nerfed too much. How much space does a guild bank have?

Allowing smaller sized guilds would also make it easier on people with multiple accounts to better manage their storage alts.

Thats what i mean, at the minute i have 3 accounts, one smith, one enchanter, and one clothier, all of which have quite resource heavy crafts, and my wife is a provisioner which is ridiculous for resources. We are both struggling with bank storage, but having the ability to set up a guild bank would ease that load and enable us to quest longer without thinking "can i keep this item/motif/recipe etc".

I don't think they wanted people to get 500 storage space even more easily. 2 people requirement is no real requirement, they might as well just increase our personal banks for free. Anyhow, you do get guild benefits: a guild chat. It might not be what you want, but it does allow you to talk to a bigger group of friends all doing their own thing.

Lets get it real: many people make pocket guilds just for additional bank space.
Make an "advanced storage" button in bank, for i dunno, 200-300 space and make it a crown store item. Like "pay 2000C to get advanced storage" or make it as additional benefit for subscribers. Be a member, get additioal storage! Many ways.
People dont need those guilds for guilding things, only for a storage.

Guild chat is like group chat if you only have 5 people you know in the game, i know there is a social aspect to the game, but i dont want to invite 5 or 6 random people to the guild just to gain bankspace. I also have friends that are woodworkers and alchemists, i think between us with all our alts we cover all crafting typei and most standard build types. Yes we may not behave as a standard guild, getting together and clearing dungeons, setting up events or anything else but having the perks for a smaller size makes the game more enjoyable and if i find an item that a friend needs, or resources for their crafts the bank enables us to share them without having to send it all via mail at 10g a message

Guild chat isn't like group chat unless you always play together whe you're online. You can't group with people outside your alliance and you can't be in two groups at once.

It seems like a small group would actually be where a Tabbard and shared Bank space would be the Most useful - with people you actually Group with regularly in game, with people you actually know and trust, which probably isn't going to be a large group for a lot of people. I certainly don't know 10 people in real life who play ESO. Some people really like a small personal group anyway. Perhaps 4 members like a typical dungeon group might be a better number to start with rather than 10.

A tabbard means more when you're identifying with people you regularly play with and actually know, not just random people you had to recruit to unlock it. Sharing a bank makes more sense when you know the other people and know you can trust them to mutually share. I've seen more than one instance of someone cleaning out a guild bank for their own gain, and it seems like most guilds just prevent most members from withdrawing anything so instead of functioning as intended it simply becomes a perk of running a large guild for the one who started it, not so much a place where people can share with each-other.

So yes, I would definitely like to see the minimum members lowered because I really like the idea of having a guild for my very small circle of friends (I have exactly 4 real life friends on ESO, though only one of them regularly plays these days), but there is little point when we would have to invite other random people in order to have the bank and tabbard benefits. :(

It would be SO much easier for me and my crafting buddy to trade our materials and crafted items with eachother if we had our own guild bank, rather than the tedious process of meeting up to trade 5 items at a time - and because our crafters aren't in the same alliance, one of us has to put things in our own bank, then log on with another character to pull them out of the bank and trade in person, and when you have a lot of things to trade you might have to log back in and out with the crafter and 'messenger' characters several times because you have to put items in the bank in batches rather than all at once. It's a bit of a pain. Mailing 6 items at a time isn't the greatest solution here either. A guild bank would be perfect.

True but for the size of guild i'm talking about you would be grouping/playing together all the time, in my case i have a character in each alliance so i can group with anyone and the chances of more than one of my friends being on at once is very slim.

Does anyone know how to bring this to the attention of the GM's/development team? If we could get enough people agreeing with this, i think we could get it changed in a future patch or something, and even if we cant it may spark an idea for change.

Just invite a few randoms. They'll likely quit playing in a few weeks anyways. I'm almost constantly kicking and replacing players that haven't logged on in around a month. I think I spend more time managing my guild instead of actually playing the game. :disappointed:

Or who knows, maybe they'll stick around and you'll make some new friends. I know I have met a few new buddies despite all the abandoned accounts.

I really hope ZOS revisits ESO's guild and trade system. Both could use some TLC.
