Hello everyone,

I need help on my build I currently have no clue what I am doing. I want the build to be both for PVE and PVP. Although I have a lot of points in Mag, I can change to stam if it is a better build. I really just want to be able to dish damage and be an off tank.

My points are as follows:
Mag: 9
Health: 3
Stam: 4

Main Weapon:
2H weapon

Back up weapon:
Shield and sword(or whatever the forum thinks is better)

Abilities:
I have no clue but a hybrid would be nice; if that is not a viable option, what are the best abilities to focus on?

Armor:
I use mainly heavy armor just so I can a bit tankier

Job:
Blacksmith
Enchanter

Any help that the advance/higher level players can give me would be great. I also play on PS4 not PC in case that matters.

I can outline a few abilities I would base a build around if I were you, then you can fill in the gaps with abilities you like. This is for magicka but Redguard is really a stamina race so you might want to think about switching. For tank it's not a big deal really because you'll use all 3 resource pools, for DPS though you'd be better off going full stamina.

    Tank:
    5pc heavy
    1pc medium
    1pc light
    1h+shield
    2h

    DPS:
    5pc light (if magicka)
1pc heavy (helm, cuirass or greaves)
1pc med (helm, cuirass or greaves)
    2h
destro staff or bow probably, for ranged DPS

    Tank abilities:
    Puncture/Inner Fire (taunts)
    Heroic Slash (damage reduction)
Circle of Protection (or bone shield, absorb magicka, etc - something defensive to dump stamina)
    Blazing Shield (awesome damage shield)

Abilities I'd have on my bar whether tanking or DPS:
Puncturing Sweep (greatest spam skill ever, good PBAOE dps plus heals you for tanking)
Structured Entropy (useful for tanking for the slotted HP bonus, and obviously useful for DPS)
Repentance (regen + get stamina/health back)
    Purifying Light (bonus damage)
    Radiant Oppression (execute)

Thank you for your help! what about the ultimate ability? What is the best one to pick? And how do I reshuffle my skill points?

Also why not wear all heavy? Does wearing 1 light pic and 1 medium pc make a difference and why?

There are shrines in these 3 cities - one for each faction.

Aldmeri Dominion - Elden Root city in Grahtwood
Daggerfall Covenant - Wayrest city in Stormhaven
Ebonheart Pact – Mournhold city in Deshaan

You'll have to pay a gold cost to redo your skill points. The shrine will tell you how much. I think it starts at 100 gp per skill point.

As to wearing 1 light piece and 1 medium piece, doing so will help you train up those armor skills. Based on your attributes, you're still relatively low level, so training these skills now will allow you options in the future if you decide you want to change your play style. Additionally, as you level them and gain skill points, you my elect to use those armor skills. For example, all armors have some sort of skill passive that boosts regeneration for the associated attribute: Magicka, Stamina, and Health. Light armor has regen improvement for Magicka, Medium for Stamina, and Heavy for Health.

The primary damage dealing ability for a Templar comes from Aedric Spear skill, Puncturing Strikes. If you haven't reached a point where you can morph Puncturing Strike, you should be find with your Magicka focus. According to TESOLife's skill calculator, Puncturing Strike's spell damage is tied to Magicka and spell damage while the morph of Puncturing Strikes called Biting Jabs is tied to Stamina and Weapon damage. So right now, the fact you have more Magicka should mean your Puncturing Strikes should do more damage than if you switch to a heavier Stamina amount.

You can double check the tooltip on Puncturing Strikes to see what it says the skill's ability is tied to for damage.

One more thing: Puncturing Sweep morph is tied to Magicka, I believe. So when you get your Puncturing Strike base skill up and can then morph to either Biting Jabs or Puncturing Sweep, you can read the tooltips to see which favors your attribute set up better.

Or you can change your attribute set up to head toward where you want to be.

My research on dps has pointed to two-weapons as the better choice for dps than two-handed weapons. I've not tested this as my Templar doesn't have two-weapon skills.

You might want to check out this build: http://tamrielfoundry.com/topic/jabsmania-templar-stamina-dd-build-for-update-1-6/.

The reason for 5pc heavy, 1pc med and 1pc light is for the undaunted passive bonus which will give you 6% to magicka, stamina and health for wearing 3 armor types - pretty significant boost compared to the extra armor you would gain from 7pc heavy.

For ultimates, Empowering Sweep and Solar Prison are 2 good ones for tanking. Meteor and Flawless Dawnbreaker are 2 good ones for DPS. Solar Prison > Meteor for tanking because of the damage mitigation you get.
