So just bought a PS4 and downloaded the patch. While downloading it, i researched and to try to figure out what character and build so to speak. I played oblivion and skyrim so not new to series but this is vastly different. After reading on the forums i decided and high elf night blade. So ive leveled him up to 5 and my problem is i have no idea what to put my skill points into or stat points. I want to be a magicka nightblade. What skill trees should i work on? Destruction? Restoration? Dual Wield? Siphoning? Shadows? I dont have a huge amount of free time to experiment a whole lot and dont want to waste time by messing this character up. I seriously have no idea and ive watched several deltia gaming vids on nightblade and i didnt even see the skills he was using but thats end game stuff i just need to know what to put skils and stats into right now (I know magicka but any stamina and how much health?) If someone could kinda tell me what skills to put points into and when to work on them and what i need to try to be doing and gathering for equipment would be awesome! thanks so much!

You want to get all of your class skill trees up to 50, and destro, restro and duel wield usually witha magick build. Try to get all of the skills up to the morphing stage, you'll have plenty of time to level everything up by the time you get to v14. And attributes you want to put them all into magicka. It'll help increase the damage of your skills that scale of max magicka

I don't know that I'd agree with putting all of your attributes into magicka. Early on that will work well, but at some point you'll want to put some into health too - otherwise you'll be in danger of getting one-shotted in the more difficult content. You can play around with the exact mix later, though, including where you want to put your armour enchants.

Up until at least level 10 you should be fine with putting everything into magicka, and if you start to use health enchants on your gear then you'll probably be OK to keep putting every attribute point into magicka for much longer than that.

By the time you hit VR1, though, and start doing vet dungeons and other more challenging content, you're definitely going to want some attribute points in health. Don't worry too much about the attribute points, though, because you can always respec them later relatively cheaply.

The skills matter more. Make sure that you have at least 2 or 3 slotted that are pretty much universally useful, and make sure that you have at least 1 slotted from each of your 3 class skill lines (this can be a regular skill or an ultimate - at level 5 you won't have any ultimates available yet).

For a nightblade I'd recommend Shadow Cloak from the Shadow skill line (it's the first one available, and it can save your bacon in a tight spot if you need to run away, or it can set you up for an attack from stealth), Strife from the Siphoning skill line (also the first one available, it does decent damage at range, it heals you, and both of the morphs are good down the line), and whatever you like from the Assassination skill line. Honestly, unless you like to get in close for melee (in which case go for Teleport Strike), you're not likely to be using whatever skill you slot from this line very much until you get access to Mark Target IMO.

Ideally you want a mix so that you're leveling all 3 armour skill lines as you go. That way, if you decide you want to respec down the road to a tank or stamina build you don't have to start from scratch with leveling the skill line for the primary armour you'll be using.

What I'd probably recommend early on is to go with 2 pieces of heavy (make one of them the chest, and the other either legs or head or shoulders - this way you'll get the most protection from them), 1 piece of medium (make it legs or head or shoulders, depending on what you ended up doing for the heavy), and the rest light. This will give you decent protection (thanks to the 2 heavy pieces, and to a lesser extent the medium piece), while leveling all 3 skill lines.

Because you're wearing more pieces of light, that line will level faster than the others. When you get to the point where you unlock the first passive in the light armour skill line that gives you a bonus if you're wearing a set of 5 or more pieces of light, then switch so that you're using 1 piece of heavy (the chest), 1 piece of medium, and 5 pieces of light. You won't have as much protection anymore, but the passives that you gain make the trade-off worth it IMO.

    That's what I'd do anyway.

Some good advice here already. I made the mistake of focusing early on single builds and regret it later on when I want to change tactics and builds.

So make sure whilst levelling 1-50 you as much variety of skills you possibly can! That way it will give you great utility and enable you to choose indefinitely when you reach Veteran levels.

Ideally when you start right off, take one skill from each line and slot it, also slot soul trap, its an extra skill!

If you're playing a magicka nighblade, grab yourself a resto staff and main with that until its level 20 (the resto staff skill tree not you). At that point you'll be able to get Rapid regeneration and Steadfast Ward (which can be morphed into the godly Healing Ward). Because NB's don't really have great self healing abilities, this will come in extremely helpful. When you're level 15 you'll get access to 2 skill bars and weapon switching. I use resto on my second for defence, and dual daggers on my first for offence. Level 16 at the moment and currently using 5 pc seducer set (Magicka regen/max and 8% cost reduction of spells) and two torug's pact daggers with sharpened trait (increased spell power).

As the others....you want to be levelling as many skills as possible as early as you can.
They take longer and longer to level as you progress.
Keep all armour types on until you have got to 50 in all of them.
I would have all tier 1 class skills on the bar until you unlock tier 2.
Put points into tier 2 and then load all 3 tier 2 class skills on the bar.
    Then tier 3 etc.
You want to be unlocking skills and levelling them as soon as you can.
Get them to the Morph stage at least and then move on.
As long as they are on your 'active' bar they will level... even if you don't use them.
    IMO.

Don't ever worry about messing up your build. If you go to the capital of any faction you can pay gold to completely redo your skill and attribute points. You don't lose any progress on skills, either, so don't worry about that. I would say mess around with anything that sounds useful and once you get to Veteran you should have a pretty good idea of what works for you. You can look at guides for builds all you want, but finding what skills suit you is always better.

Career tanks that were *14 were telling me that I'm wrong for being a Sorc tank and that I'm a fool for not popping endless damage shields. Tried it. Yeah, I could take even more of a hit with all of, like, five shields, but it was more difficult for me to pull and hold aggro due to the burning of my resources on shields and I couldn't focus on my CC abilities anymore so my team was taking a bigger hit.
