I realize as a faction vs faction game this is hard to do. In shadowbane they did this with mines. Mines were points of interest that your guild (SB was a guild vs guild pvp game) could claim for 20ish hours (until they went live again). The gave resources that were used to create the best armor/weapons. They had like a 2 hour window once they went live for a guild to claim it. Multiple mines would go "live" at the same time around the map. Mines would run during prime time (like 6p to 11p est..) every night.

This is a decent game. But it could easily be a great game. But having a mix of small and large scale pvp would definitely go a long way. If arena is the only plan you have for achieving this I will be saddened.

For anyone who enjoyed Shadowbane or the concept of guild vs guild conquest pvp mmo's.. check out Crowfall. Likely about a year away.

Starters the community wants a arena. Second the IC is suppost to be that small scale PvP but we all played PTS and IC is NOT small scale pvp at all. How ever the enforcer part of justice system will maybe have that true small scale pvp cause if will be a player enforcer VS a player criminal.

Compared to open Cyrodiil? Yeah, the IC is small scale. It might not be the exact kind of PvP you're looking for though, but it is wide ranging PvP.

You kind of have this is Cyrodill, where you can at least opt into it. Just try and PvE quest in towns - esp towns contolled by other factions - and see how long it takes for someone to gank you from the shadows to satisfy their bounty quest objectives.

Honestly, I love running the PvE content in Cyrodiil. It's got a nice flavor, even on a buff server. If you remember to stay on guard, the gankers aren't even that much of a problem, because you're expecting them. Always expect the gankers, and the pool god will give you power... or something.

They could achieve small scale PvP by spreading around objectives in Cyrodiil rather than merely having the PvP objectives focused on keeps. They could use the same mechanic used for capturing flags and resources at keeps but place them at places of interest and strategic points all over the map. If they are far enough away from the beaten path between keeps and easy enough to control with a small team then Zergs won't be common around them. Mines, Farms, Villages, Priories, crossroads, bridges, etc. Ensure they offer benefit to the alliance for controlling them and give XP/AP to those that take and fight over them, but are an inconvenience to large groups that would benefit more from Siege Warfare.

They don't have to introduce anything other than the mechanic that is already in the game and it would serve to spread the fighting around. Probably be less "gankage" between keeps too which I think alot of folks could appreciate.
