ESO looks great

I must say ESO looks very good for a MMO. The lightning effects, reflections and shadows add nicely to the scenery. My only gripe is the body painting armor.
The images are taken in UltraHD, but downscaled to FullHD for faster loadtimes.

Oh I completely agree. For me, the graphics have set a really high bar for the expectations of the rest of the game.

The world design is second to none IMO. Easily the best.

Now the skin armor and such is because it allows for more characters on screen at a time before there is slow down. So with large PvP it was pretty much needed to keep the game from chugging. Though I do wish there would be an option to turn on that makes armor look less painted on.. I doubt they have anything like that created though.

The game's graphics are good, but the in-game graphics tweaking options aren't good enough for people with high-end graphics cards. When I first played the game with FullHD 1080p Ultra settings the graphics disappointed me. Only after enabling NVIDIA DSR resolutions, manually tweaking the game's settings file, and installing mods SweetFX and ESO Launcher (and tweaking their settings) I got great graphics.

Things I especially dislike in the graphics:
    - Only support for FXAA anti-aliasing. To get sharper graphics you have to increase resolution and use downsampling methods (like NVIDIA DSR).
    - No way to adjust Anisotrophic Filtering from in-game. 16x AF has to be enabled from graphics drivers.
    - The unrealistic light/shine that hits characters from left. This can be disabled by editing the usersettings.txt file or using ESO Launcher mod.
    - The game's Color Correction which dulls colors in some environments. This can be disabled by editing the usersettings.txt file or using ESO Launcher mod.

This is all on a PC from early 2011, so it does not even need a high end pc for it to look like this

It's pretty good looking, except for the texture resolution.

A higher-resolution texture pack would go a long way. Right now, it looks pretty.. console-y.

The textures are muddy and lack definition. The PC version should have much sharper textures. There is no excuse for it to not, because the lower options would still remain for lower end systems.

And seriously, a 100 dollar graphics card can max this game. It needs better textures.

    Don't worry, they look fine.

Just try to imagine every PC player has looked at graphics that render about as well as whatever was in that ark in Indiana Jones. Unless a PC players face melts to the skull, they see nothing.

It does look good (on PC, water looks like jello on console ha) but there's other contenders. Black Desert is F2P and looks pretty good with a much better character creation-

ha I agree...doesn't help that they seem to be at 30FPS in the demo. On the other hand though it appears to have collision which is not something that is common in MMO combat.

What does that do? I need to keep my textures on Medium, because I'll crash if I set them to high.

This is with a GTX970 and i7-4790k. I suspect my HDD might be failing, and crapping out when trying to load in larger textures.

I am not sure why its crashing for you, I have all settings to max @ 3840x2400 (16:10 UltraHD) + ini tweaks for even better graphics and it is only crashing if it reaches the 32bit limit. I have a GTX580 (slightly overclocked), i7-2600k @4.5Ghz, 8GB RAM, 128 GB SSD so at least your GPU is better than mine

I too love the ingame world.Sometimes I'll just stand on the beaches in Auridon, and watch the sun come up.
ESOTU absolutely IS the most beautiful game I have ever played, and I,too,am old.Well, but for Morrowind. When Morrowind was given to me,I just wandered all over, not doing quests.Just gaping at the world. I couldnt believe how amazing it was.And to me,still is.Just as it is.I guess I am eternally stuck on that game. You can mod it,change it into anything you want to.People still create mods for it,even to this day.I added two the other day.
