SLI Question

Just put my new system online today. Finished downloading a fresh install of ESOTU. The new system has SSD drives, 8 Core CPU, 32 GIgs of RAM and running SLI, two GTX970's. Anyone running SLI have any changes they have made in the usersettings.txt file or NVIDIA profile for game performance or SLI related? Right now running the game "out of the box" and haven't set up any NVIDIA profile or made any changes to the stock usersettings.txt file. Running Ultra HIgh on everything and so far seems to be running great but I am sure there are things I probably need to set for performance that I haven't run into yet and won't notice until I am in PVP or large dolmen fights. Thanks!!

Nice setup you have there, but unfortunately ESO doesn't take advantage of any of that. ESO is not multi-threaded, so the 8 cores won't be utilized, and ESO is a 32-bit application that can only address 4GB of RAM, even on a 64-bit system, so that 32GB RAM won't be utilized either. The bottleneck in ESO is the CPU, so you can throw all the GPU's you want at it, but there will still be lag.

Can't find the items you are looking for? Need a place to trade? We welcome ESO players of all platforms at ESO Trade, the home for trading of goods and services in the lands of Tamriel.

    Pretty much this.

Your processor, which I assume is from AMD, will be the issue in 90% of intensive loads in ESO. More cores, like Akavir_Sentinel said, won't help you in ESO, as the game is totally unoptimized for leveraging high end CPUs.

Although a lot of performance issues are patched up in IC patch, or at least on PTS.

Don't bother changing any settings for SLi, as with 970s, you will notice almost no difference at all in the performance of the game. I actually noticed better performance when utilizing the second card for nothing but anti-aliasing... But your results may vary as I have a more powerful Intel CPU (if I was correct in my assumption that you went with an AMD chip.)

Ugh well sad to hear the system upgrade won't do much. I have an Intel Core i7-5960X CPU. I use to set my one video card on the old system to use max power anytime I had the game on. I really don't want to do that on two cards nor should I have to. CS has always said to set this but that is just crazy. I don't have them set to run full power right now when I run ESO.

I know NVIDIA added the ESO SLI profiles a while back and CS replied to an email I sent before the change stating: "Optimizations supporting systems that use SLI or Crossfire were added in a recent patch for The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited." I can't seem to find that in patch notes anywhere. :/

Ah well thanks for the info! :)

Well been doing some reading. Made a change in the NVIDIA settings and it has doubled my FPS. Changed the SLI Rendering Mode to Force alternate frame rendering 2. Still researching a few other setting in the usersettings.txt file.
