My sympathy to those affected, assuming the rumours are true.
It takes a lot less people to maintain a game once it has been developed or had its initial conversion to a different platform. It's the norm for companies to take on a lot of staff (often contractors rather than employees) in the run up to launch or conversion and then lay a fair few of them off soon after. That's true not just in relation to the development team but also the community support team too.
That may be what this is about, which won't stop ESO's haters from claiming it underlines their trolling that the game is dying. I believe that to be far from the truth, both from the number of players in-game and also the increase in forum activity. I was looking the other day for an update on a post from earlier the same day and had to go back 5 pages to find it, and that wasn't the first page with that day's posts on it. The game is very much alive.

Source on those numbers?

That , that is a low stat. Had no idea it tracked that , much less that low.
Even just barely playing on and off for a month it's hard not to be over 30 , as 1-50 is extremely fast before the VR levels kick in.

Its in your trophy achievments on psn.
All the psn achievments have the % of players who have received the achievment on ps.
Another fun one is 2% of players have completed their starting factions 5 dungeons.

I'm VR 11 and have only done the main quest line + undaunted. Not sure what you mean by 'the level 30 quest' but I may not have done it either.
I'd like to think that @ZOS_GinaBruno could shed some light?

I don't think it's possible to be VR anything and have not done the main questline ?

I'm testing that now. And it appears to be possible. I might have to do the final quest when I get to 50. But so far, as I go from area to area, they act like I've done the prior quests.
I'm English and play on the eu...however eu is dead!frenchyuk86 wrote: »Can you merge the servers on consoles now please.
God no. Then we'd have to deal with you a******* 'Mericans. Won't even play on NA any longer.

I bet you technically could. Grinding coldharbour for vrs sounds rough though
Update 08/20/2015 8:04:32 AM EDT: A spokesperson from Bethsoft confirmed customer support layoffs to Massively OP in the following statement: “Following the successful PC and console launches of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited, we have a thriving online community and have adjusted customer support to meet the ongoing needs of our players.”

Why would I have to grind Coldharbour for VRs?

If you don't complete the main quest, you can't go to the next faction's area.
So coldharbour would be the only place to get xp as you'd be too high to get it anywhere else.
