Crafter perks tied to achievements

Hello @zos

Id like to see some kind of perks attached to crafting.

This would be a good starting point:

- Having all given crafting achievements in a proffesion grants a 5% stat/duration increase in products crafted by that character.

Examples: Armor has 5% increased armor/spell resists, potions restore 5% more points... And so on.

Would give an incentive for dedicated crafters/completionists.

+1 if you like, thanks.

They're actually getting rid of the blind +2 level/+1v bonus that crafted equipment already had, because it made drops irrelevant.

+1 to that, even if bonuses would work only if the CHARACTER who crafted armour/weapon is the same CHARACTER who wears it (not being able to craft gear on alt, and wear it on main for the bonus)

Combining that with the fact that crafting achievements would be character bound, this would encourage people to actually have main character crafters, not an army of alts, each crafting one piece of gear.

    This is a bad thing.

It makes crafting a waste of time, all it is useful now is getting a specific look in an armour area.

Yeah, true, no one in endgame ever wore dropped sets since crafted sets were so superior... Long awaited and necessary change.

Crafted sets are already the most versatile endgame gear available. Sometimes they're eclipsed by specific things. Players need that specific drop set, or they need a drop set with jewelry so they can get two 5pc bonuses. But, this will actually mean that getting a V14 way of whatever piece isn't instant vendor trash.

I mean, I know some people that actually wear pieces of the Yokudan sets, but... at that point, you're either wearing them for the aesthetics or to get set bonuses you can't find elsewhere. All around, this is going to mean those drops will be more viable to more players, which is a good thing, honestly.

Tanks? Maybe correct (but doubtful - I don't know of many foregoing Footman for a crafted set). Everyone else? Ask your healers how many crafted pieces they wear. Ask your damage dealers the same.

What made crafted sets good were the "creative game mechanics" some of them provided. Like sharpened maces. Like Whitestrake 5piece. Like Hundings 5piece. Most builds are built around a certain drop set and crafted stuff was used for filling up. Examples? Healer's Habit, Footman's Fortune, Shadow Walker, Twin Serpernt, Martial Knowledge, Morag Tong, Ravager, Skirmisher, Dreugh King Slayer, Silks of the Sun, Arch-Mage, Adroitness, Cyrodiil's Light (admittedly only rings, so no chance for crafted), Hawk's Eye, Way of the Air, etc.

No need to even mention the Monster Sets.

Drop sets did not need that boost. In reality, they turned completely on their initial stance of "Crafted Equipment will always be the strongest". They started with offering golden items as drops and now they removed the last two advantages of crafted pieces: Choice in trait and the +1 stats.

A bad and unnecessary change that could only be alleviated by introducing the capability to craft and upgrade jewellery. Otherwise, crafting takes the place of a "substitute until I can get the drops I want". As usual.

There is a limit on who can wear the drop sets.

Yeah Marshal Knowledge, Way of the Air and Fire are available to everyone at VR14 (at least those that can be bothered to open chests)

    But the other stuff?

This is blocked behind hard group content. to get VR14 Healers you need to do VDS

While this may be easy for you, for the VAST majority of players this is NOT easy. The vast majority will NEVER do VDSA

This is obviously the first step in their removal of VR ranks and their implementation of a tiered armour system.

In order to implement this terrible loot system they need to remove the ability for all players to wear what they want. Ie put some blocks in now to the average player so they can get used to the idea.

ESO was fantastic because players had an infinite choice. This is going away and is the first step on the road to making this just another WoW clone.

I never set a foot into VDSA and I have two chars with 5/5 healers. Out of those sets I listed, only twin serpent is gated behind content since it is the only BoP set.

Make the majority of gear BoE - at least it would keep the gear market healthy and open up items not usually there for non Trials players.

Like you Leandor - only run vdsa once and have 2 full sets of healers.

...or to get set bonuses you can't find elsewhere.

The drop sets people wear are either for those set bonuses, usually the 5pc bonus, or because they can get a 5pc bonus with the jewelry when, they wouldn't be able to otherwise.

It's not for the raw stats. Though, again, I do know some people that wear the Yokudan stuff for the aesthetics. Which, I can't really fault them for, because they're cool looking sets.

Same here, I'm running with yellow healers rings/neck on my alts.

That said, I am not a casual gamer, I have the cash to buy this stuff.

I am not barred from wearing much, even the BOP stuff drops for me occasionally in the pvp rewards.

Again, I am not the casual gamer who will be restricted. And they are the vast majority of players.

I know what a game is like when you get the elite groups having the fun at the expense of the "average player" and they turn to crap fast.

It worked great in other games and the achievement system is perfect for this kind of things.
