I would like to see newer metals need to have a lower level ore with the newer higher level ores in order to make the newer ignots. Sane with clothing materials
I think hes referring to the Runescape style of crafting. Smelting like Iron and Copper ore to make a different ingot. Just more along the lines of having a low tier plus a high tier to make something one hundred percent new.
How about using two different color ingots to craft weapons and armor that have a base color, and then the filigree could be the other color? Or the ability to mix metals to make alloys?

It would certainly put some validity into having to keep the low level material passive perks in the crafts on respec, as well giving life to old zones.
