Making Money Mid-Thirties Range

DigitalHitmann
Been playing the game for the last week or so, up to level 34 now. Was just wondering what my options are for making money without a guild. I noticed the game isnt very money intensive in terms of bulk pick ups. Nothing seems to cost millions upon millions like other MMOs, atleast that I have experienced yet. I can play for a 5-6 hour stretch and only make a couple thousand. Just seems really low.

My main crafts are Blacksmithing and Woodworking. Blacksmith is around L25 and Woodwork is around half of that. Can I somehow use that to my advantage yet or do I have to wait until end-game to really capitalize on it?

Ive been farming anchors for awhile and get some decent drops but I dont have any avenue to sell them through. Some of the anchors didnt even drop anything at all either chest or lootable bodies which just seemed strange to me. I thought they were always supposed to drop something if you participated. Atleast that's what I was told.

Apart from that I had been stealing from houses with alot of lootable objects. Sometimes I walk away with nothing and sometimes I walk away with a thousand gold worth of stuff.

Just wondering, what are my best options at this point in time?

Thank you for your time.

    Farm....Farm areas with mobs.

I can farm for 30 mins and have 6-7k of stuff to sell to a merchant (but then I'm v14).

Assume each item is worth 25g and you have 90 bag space (saving 5-10 slots for food/weaps/main things).

    That's 80x25g = 2000g in 30-40 mins.

Your best option for making decent money without playing the economy game (buying things from guild traders that are under-priced in order to re-sell them for a profit - I hate that game because it feels like work to me, but I know some people enjoy doing that) is to be a thief.

Carefully loot items from containers in cities. Remember that the goal is to avoid getting a bounty at all, because if you never have a bounty the guards will never stop you and try to take all the stuff you stole. Focus on the green, blue, and purple items. Don't take the risk of stealing any white items unless there's no possible way anyone could witness it, because the reward is outweighed by the risk.

Once you get the hang of it you can easily make 10K gold or so in about an hour or so each day.

Of course, when you're higher level you'll be making 10K or so just by questing for an hour or so (taking into account selling any white or green gear drops), but at your level being a thief is a faster and easier way to make gold.

Vendor white and green items don't dismantle them. You can raise trades very quickly via dismantling high level gear later on.

Questing from 1-49 gave me more than 150k gold. And of course, stealing. An hour of stealing can normally loot ~5k.

Definitely doing something wrong here, I just don't know what since I'm not with you. But 1-19 I had 60k. By level 39 I had over 150k.

It's a mistake if you care more about making gold than you do about leveling your crafting skills, but if you care more about leveling your crafting skills to keep pace with your character level than making gold then it's a wise move. It's all about what your priorities are.

Check your mail in game. Should solve your problem.

As far as gear goes green items from questing and mobs should be fine. Maybe buy a blue weapon for a couple g.

You could check out the websites 'tamriel foundry' and 'deltias gaming' for build advice. Should make things easier

I had a Blue weapon for awhile, but found a green that's output was better both in damage and enchantment damage just yesterday so I switched. I also found two pieces to a set and ive been wearing those and upgraded the one piece to Blue to increase the bonuses with my level.

I tried looking in Guild shops for other pieces of that set, but trying to use the Guild traders for specific items is a giant CF. Also saw that you cant B/S/T on the forums here per ZoS statement which means trying to find a certain item is going to be rather difficult...

Currently at work so I cant bounce in game, but thanks for the advice Mighty. I appreciate it.

I definitely wouldn't bother with buying any gear from guild traders until you're at least VR1. You out-level it so quickly 1-50, and you really don't need any of the dropped sets that early in the game. It's just not worth chasing the non-vet versions of the dropped sets. You should either use crafted gear sets (if you can make them or have a friend who can make them for you), or just use the gear that you get dropped from enemies and as quest rewards.

Once you've got a maxed out crafter, and you're working on alts, your drops yield a stupid amount of money. It's really nice.

Just join a merchant guild. I mostly sell looted recipes, motif books and perfect roe I find. I also love the "wow, that's a deal" game. Sometimes I find really low stuff for sales in guilds and I repost them. Other times I find someone like last night selling 109 honing stones for 750g when that should go for about $30k. I gobbled them up thinking "I'm good for awhile".

Is... is that really what honing stones go for? Around 300 gold each? What server are you on? Suddenly I'm eyeing my 10+ stacks of honing stones, pitch, and hemming... Maybe I should join a trading guild.

I generally sell stacks of 100 for about 12k. But I could see you could getting 250 - 300 if you sold them in small groups.

Edit* i havent done any trading for a couple weeks so things could be different

Loot or buy up a lot of provisioning ingredients, level up the skill and make the highest green recipe you can, then sell it to a vendor.

If you buy ingredient A for 5 gold and ingredient B for 5 gold, and you can make 4 foods out of them and sell each for 5g, you double your money.

It works even better with fish because catching them is free and filleting them have a chance to drop Perfect Roe which can sell for 13k a piece.

Get a guild store addon (for example Awesomeguildstore) that can easily search for what you need, run around to all the stores and you should have thousands of ingredients at a decent price.

Wow pc ingredient are cheap!!!! They are more like 50 - 100g each on console. Cost me over 50k to go from 1-50 on an alt not to long ago.

If that's the case, go crazy looting as many as you can and join a guild with a good trader. Coldharbour has no stealing so it's a gold mine for ingredients.

If you're more then 5 levels above the mobs then the chest won't drop, same as items off their bodies.

I don't know how you loot and steal yet don't make money. I have a craftsman character currently at level 37 who breaks down every colored item he finds yet still has 35K in his pocket and I've spent thousands with him on repairs, training, player trading, etc.

Which anchor should I be farming at level 34 and which general location is it at? Ive only found the one in the cemetery on Rivenspire.

I have I think 80 or 90 backpack slots so far and like 13K gold. I have alot of materials banked up too so im considering selling those. I loot everything I find, but I try not to sell it incase I use it later on.

Every zone has 3 anchors, there's maps online if you google it.
Not sure what kind of mats you're saving, but if you aren't actively crafting then they're just taking up space.
Crafting, esp equipment crafting, should be started as early on as possible. It takes a long time to research all those traits.

It really is. I've made a similar amount. Do I have it on me all at once - no. As you know buying bank space and backpacks ain't cheap but I easily got both my backpack and bank capacity to 100 before hitting lvl 30. That's also taking into account I'm training a horse for 250g per day and repairing my items maybe twice a-day too
