Sitting on my mount FOREVER

I caved and bought the Clouded Senche Mount. I know a lot of people say it's a waste of money but I'm very happy with it. Plus my Doctor said if I didn't I buy it I might die*. I do wish my mount wouldn't disappear when jump off though, or at least have the option for him to stay put. Not only do I enjoy having them around but it kinda ruins my RP when it just vanishes

*Not entirely true.

    Did the same.
What about combat though? Remembers mounts running off during combat or being killed in previous titles.

You know what? I totally agree! A nice, hopping off, would be cool. lol. And I think the mounts should be able to swim through waters! Of course they would swim slower, because what horse can't swim? All horses can swim! And even big cats, like your clouded senche, like to swim!

They can't keep everyone's mounts around indefinitely because it would add a lot of objects to the game and therefore a lot of lag to the servers. It would also be even more of a pain than in the single-player games if your mount just stayed where you left it.

But IMO Dragon Age: Inquisition has a nice compromise. In that game when you summon your mount they appear a few meters behind your character and walk up to you, then you get on. When you dismount they stay around just long enough that they're usually off-screen when they disappear.

Its not perfect (especially if you happen to have the camera pointing in the direction they come from when you call them) but it's just enough to add some realism to it, more so than the current animation in ESO where you seem to start swinging yourself into the saddle just before the mount appears, I always think it looks like you're pulling a horse from your pocket.

Yeah Dragon Age had the right idea, I agree. Even if they disappear after a few seconds it's better than *poof* gone

That feature would have to be a toggle. Players who PvP, run trials, or grind mobs and resources want/need their mount to appear immediately.

I'm actually ok with my mount disappearing when I dismount.

I still play Skyrim with the Convenient Horses mod so when I dismount and enter combat my horse no longer screams "Banzai!" and charges to his death. With the Convenient Horses mod he's set to cowardly behavior so he runs away from combat...and when Lydia and I are done fighting the big scary monsters I get to look for a horse who is like the hide and seek champion of Skyrim. I swear I've spent so much time in Skyrim hunting my horse...I'd rather not do that in ESO unless someone makes an addon called "Dude where's my horse?"

Yes, the Dragon Age Inquisition idea works perfectly. That way I can snag a couple screenshots of me next to my mount. Also, yes yes yes to the swimming on mounts. That was one of the coolest things about skyrim.

Also, somewhat unrelated but ~first person mounts for console~ I know that I made a separate thread about that but seriously
