What does blocking players actually do?

I'm asking because I haven't done it...yet. I specifically want to know if I'm being followed around by a player and I block him, does his character disappear or am I just blocking the human and can still be harassed by the character?

I'm pretty sure the character will stay in your "phase", but the player won't be able to communicate with you. Otherwise, while grinding, players would simply block everyone who are near them so they could be alone.

Yeah, I was worried about that. I'm concerned if I block someone they'll just harass me more with their character. I tend to lure an enemy in to distract them, then leg it and hide from them

Just ignore the player. There's nothing they can do to physically interact with you anyway.

They can't send you messages. That's about it you will still see them around and hear them in game

Edit: Oh really? That's hardly blocking if you can still hear them. I'd like to think that will be looked at. I have the Player Volume turned down anyway, but I don't want to keep isolating myself from the benefits of an MMO because of a few idiots. I will do my best to just ignore them and not feel too intimidated

In theory, if you log out and log in again, the game will do its best to put you in a different server shard from people that you have blocked. I have no idea if this actually works though.

That's a good thing about being on the xbone, you can actually mute specific people. The only way you hear them is if they're being heard on someone elses mic. It's completely independent of the game.

I would love if blocking player would phase him out away from me.

This would solve a lot of issues where other players harass me and annoy with running around me, stealing my pulls and kills (like when im trying to batch charge my gems with the ability where final blow can charge soul gem, but they run around me spamming AOE) or intruding into already full spots thus reducing everyones exp, or just running around and spamming screen with skills (bank spammers *cough*).
Ive recently found people who were running around me, trying to steal my safebox picks - when i was lockpicking chest they were spamming high visual skills and/or fire breath on me hoping it will cover my view of lockpicking and ill jinx it.

Literally none of that is harassment. However most of it is entitlement so there is that.
