How exactly does Poison damage work?

Given the new IC sets that have 5pc bonuses involving Poison damage, I'm wondering how exactly it works and how one can maximize its potential. So, questions for you all:
  1. Does it scale with Stamina/Weapon Power or Magicka/Spell Power, or neither?
  2. How effective is the Thaumaturge constellation in buffing it (eg does it actually work or is it bugged)?
  3. Do Bow, Poison Mist (Vampire Line), and the Black Widow syngery from Shadow Silk (Undaunted line) have the only Poison attacks in the game? (note that Werewolf abilities are Disease damage)
  4. What have been people’s experiences in creating this kind of build? Can one realistically focus on Poison damage for PvP or PvE, or must it be secondary to Magic or another main form of damage?

So the central issue is, given that the Thaumaturge constellation buffs Magic, Poison, and Disease damage, it seems logical to spec Magicka to also be effective outside of Poison damage alone (tons of abilities use Magic damage), but doing so would also undermine one’s Stamina pool for Bow abilities and limit set choices since most Poison damage sets focus on Stamina/Weapon buffs. Anyone see a way around this?

Are you sure? The tooltip doesn't saying anything about it being a DoT, and there are many non-DoT Poision effects, so Poison isn't inherently damage over time. Any insight into the original actual questions?

Im theorizing here so I might be wrong. If you are planning to use bow then weapon damage and critical are the main source of damage while poison acts as a additional damage. That bring said though, just saw deltia's latest specter build that has poison damage as one of his main source of dps. Check that out, maybe you will have insight into it.

Well, i read that the enchantment is a dot as i was reading a pve valk scoria DK build.

I believe dmg of psn attack depends if the skill uses magicka or stamina, stamina would be max weapon dmg and max stamina and magicka would be spell power and max magicka.

I don't think a pure psn will be a viable build, as i said psn are Dot (i'm not 100% though) so a nb cloaking (such op class) or anyone using cleanse will get rid of all the psn dmg. But to be fair the majority of builds just stack either stamina or magicka so most builds aren't just pure magicka dmg spell or just pure physical dmg skills.

For example a common use of psn arrow is to weave it with a bow heavy attack.

Psn skills are their for extra dmg not finishers or main source of dmg.
