Currently i am rank 1 and maxed in provisioning level and skills but every-time i get a writ it is only for lvl 40 crafts. I have maybe once or twice received rank 1 crafts. Is this a bug or something? Ive tried collecting from different towns even canceling them and relogging to try to collect from coldharbour and craglorn but it hasnt worked. The same happens all my blacksmithing and woodworking writs also. Blacksmithing I can make calcium but only gives me ebony writs, woodworking is maxed but only gives me yew. Alchemy only on that gives me same level writs for now. Any help will be appreciated!

Only thing that affects the level of Provisioning writs is the level of Recipe Improvement, but I guess you already knew that.
Strange thing. If you are sure you have maxed that skill, it must be a bug.

One thing you could try is to respec and put the skill points back in.

I cant get them either. I stop at 40. I think its also restricted by level. or zone access, as I cant get to Craglorn. Have you done BOTH the Coldharbor and Craglorn access quests?

And.. never mind, after a re-read of your post. just put in a /bug report.Provisioning does not care about what zone you loot from. So, other random possibilities..
Have you started your Cadwells Silver?
I know this may be weird, but, have you gotten your writ quests in the Rift/Reapers/DC side (or the zone before you go to CH)?
Is there a writ marker for you in CH? Have you done that? (Writs came out after I did CH, so i dont remember checking..)

Power level to CP160 in a week:
Where is the end game? You just played it.
Why don't I have 300+ skill points? Because you skipped content along the way.
    Where is new content? Sigh.

I have respec'd which didnt effect anything especially woodworking. I went from 6/9 to 9/9 in it and nothing changed in what I am able to make.

I picked up the writs in craglorn and even CH as well as the other zones. At first i read it was a bug that if you get high level writs in zones other then CH and Craglorn they will be lower then the level you can craft, but i picked them up from craglorn first and it still happened.
I havent started Cadwells Silver yet but even so I have got a writ rank 1 once before!

Probably a dumb question, but did you get there by doing your main quest or did you teleport there by another way?

because on PTS i see this too with writs taken in craglorn. but 1/3 day it asks for the right lvl quest. And it's because i didn't do the main quest with the Template toon.

I got to craglorn through the main quest. I didn't start the first mission there but was able to take a cart there

Might be a bug in how the game sees your level. Grind up to rank 2 and see if it fixes it. Writs are leveled to the lower of yourlevel or your provisioning level. And the rounding system is a bit wonky.

I am not sure how it should work, but I found that getting top level writs is a function of player level, player craft level, and skill. I had been a level 50 blacksmith with all the material skills unlocked for two weeks and did not get top writs. I then leveled to VR1 and started getting top level writs. In clothing where my level was 40 I was getting the Hollow City writs. I put some skillpoints into Clothing to be able to make the highest level material and immediately started getting the top writs every day.

So It seems if you are at lvl 50 craft, and can use the top tier materials, it must be your low player level that is holding you back.

I'm V1 so I should be getting V1 writs not level 40 writs. Hopefully when I get to V2 it corrects itself because I'm missing out on possibly getting recipes for ambossia

Well it happened to me too.

I maxed provisioning and the skills on my lvl 38 alt yesterday. Now got me a writ and it is only lvl 40 stuff.

As some said it is probably the toons level that affects this. It SHOULDN'T be like this.

My provisioning skill is level 50. Do not get any high level writs either. Only place I can pick up writs is from my starting zone (Stonefalls). My char for provisioning is vr12. Craglorn is open and where all my deliveries are made.

Ive gotten a high level writ again then the next day it went back to getting low level. The system one day recognizes the level the the next day doesnt?

it's a 3 days cycle and the one where you got the high level must be the broken one. (same on PTS)
on another thread about provisonning writs, someone told that you need to have a "tour" of coldharbor before being able to do lvl 6 writs. Maybe this would help here too, can't tell for sure, but worth a shot:

To hand in writs at Coldharbour you have to have completed the walkaround tour with the groundkeeper woman. Maybe thats blocking you.

Where i hand in the writs is in craglorn. I unlocked and did the first quest i got for craglorn already so should it matter doing any CH quest? I recieved the quest for Craglorn through normal story mode not teleporting there from someone

I have no idea, i've never been there, but from what i've gathered about provision writs, story progression is a factor. Template toon is v14 and has the same problem on PTS, i doubt the toon lvl is much of a factor in fact.
Maybe it's not only Craglorn Coldharbour but the main faction story too. I'm just throwing ideas here.
Actually I'd like to know what is the trigger too. (Maybe a completed achievement, anything)

Thinking of it, this writs come from the mage and fighters guild, maybe we need to finish their quest line + access to coldharbour/craglorn. (alone it's not enough, i have them completed under lvl 40 and still have provisionner 4 writs)

I've been at level 50 for provisioning since my level was low 30s. I'm now level 44 and still only getting level 4 writs. I've finished the Mage and Fighter's Guild quests, but not the main quest.

Just finished the coldharbour tour at lvl 40 and got a new provisionning quest at last. (edit, but it's only tier 5 quest, and i'm lvl 6 cooking skill, still better that what i had till now)
i'll see tomorrow if it is consistant.

till now i've only finished mages/warrior/faction main quest. I have not even touched the lvl40 aquilerius quest.

So it might have been that I didnt start coldharbour quest because this is second day in a row after i started that I got a high level writ. If it happens again then that is the reason!
  • SaltyWorley
I'm level 21, rank 5 in recipe improvement, rank 2 in recipe quality, provisioning 50. I turned in a level 2 writ (pellitine tomato rice and seaflower tea) a few days ago and got 4 each of bervez juice and frost mirriam along with some other stuff. That seems like a level 4/5 reward, not level 2, which suggests the reward is based on your level, not on the writ level.

When I got a new writ, it was a level 4 writ (cyrodillic cornbread/gods-blind-me). I haven't yet ventured past the first 3 zones in Daggerfall Covenant. I had read elsewhere that you may not get level 5 writs if you haven't ventured into the level 4/5 zones. I guess the game will let you go to an area you haven't yet visited (I would have to turn the level 4 writ in within a zone I haven't yet visited), but limits it to the 4th level area. I plan to try and open the other areas with guild help to see if I can change that.

the topic here is to know what triggers the place to turn in writs and the level of them.

there are no known problem for writs tier 1-4.

and we saw two posts ago that touring coldharbour definitively triggers tier 5. (not 6, at least not for cooking or/and if not coupled with another requirement like lvl or whatever).

btw, doing lvl 40 aquilarios/lyris etc... quests doesn't trigger lvl 6. I'd bet on finishing coldharbour main quest.
