Why does NO ONE bash/interrupt?

In instances, when you see that flashy, extremely obvious animation windup and telegraphed red zone pointing at your healer/etc., why in the name of all the gods is it so hard for people in melee to adapt their "I'm so amazing" rotation and do their job to bash them to interrupt it?

Maybe "kids these days" were spoiled by WoW and figure they can just stand in fire and rely on healers to save them while they tunnel, but no one else can see your DPS in this game, so the only way they have to know if you are terribad is seeing you constantly refuse to do simple things like bash.

How hard is it to adapt and why does literally no one seem to do it?

I am going to assume it is the tutorial's fault for not being clear and people don't know you even CAN bash.

    Allow me to explain:
    • Hold block (right mouse).
    • Point face at enemy.
    • Press attack (left mouse) while block is still held.
    • Profit.

    You're welcome.

Generally as a tank I can usually get 90% of them. Dps can dps

But with ZOS removing stamina regen while blocking, can tanks really afford the stamina to take up the slack from "I'm so amazing" tunnel vision DPS? I don't think they can. Better to learn the actual game mechanics now rather than growing to rely on training wheels I say.

To be fair, bashing is against forum TOS and whoever does it will be moderated.... Maybe that's why you don't see it happening

i use it all the time, 1h/sh, staff, 2h, pve, pvp, whatever.

it's been a worthwhile investment for some of my c/p, as well.

Stuff dies to fast to worrie about it in dungeons. I chains all the ranged to me when I tank and good dps have it down long before it becomes an issue.

HRC is the only place I can think that requires a bash/interupt.

When I'm in close combat I do it but most of my toons are ranged. When I'm 20 feet away and that archer gets the red glow I step out of the way and nail him with a shards for his effort. For DPS part of the problem is you never know if animation cancelling will kick in or not. I might be halfway into a shards which takes a second to cast. If I try to block/interrupt it might let me, it might not. It might cancel the spell and not block. It might cast the spell and still block. Who the hell knows what will happen?

I think that's part of it. I think part of it's also that unless it's a stun, knockdown, heal ability or does heavy damage many would probably rather just take the hit and pop a quick heal.

I have to admit that sometimes I'm guilty of it too. If I know it's something trivial like that dagger toss snare melee enemies just love to use I probably won't waste the stamina interrupting it.

When DPS I bash healers always .Bashing damage abilities on the other hand with very few exceptions(taking aim, DSA ,trial) is just not worth it most of the time. Also if the healer is in the way of the "extremely obvious animation windup and telegraphed red ". They should move the snip away or bash ;) . I know that I never actually depended on the DPS for that when healing,

But then again we are in a version where it makes more sense to just continuously focus Bogdan and ignore the healer ghosts in vEH . It is just faster. Who even gives a damn?

I ran into this on a low level character of mine earlier today. We were running the Banished Cells and I only I was trying to land interrupts / block. Somehow we made it all the way to the end and that last fight was a pain. I was the healer while also trying to take out the orbs with what little damage I can do while they seemed to have trouble getting out of the blue flames and keeping him the furthest possible from the orb spawn. Now idea how but we managed to finally finish with just one death.

    Such a frustrating experience!

As a healer; either the tank bashes or I do. I am not going to have my stam DPS waste their resource pool to bash or have my mag DPS lose their rotation and heavens only know how much DPS if it messes up their DoTs. Not to mention DPS is through the roof in the game right now, things just melt. Most of the time we don't interrupt because then the casting mob is standing in stupid and will be dead shortly.
  • cinnamonbooty
I think, as you mentioned, there is a lack of emphasis on blocking to interrupt mostly because there are safeguards in place that almost eliminate the need for it.

I like to tank (if I can) and heal (also, if possible) and I normally spend my stamina on blocking in this manner, unless the battle necessitates my use of the ol' tuck and roll

V14 tank here putting in my 2 cents worth. I do understand the importance of bash but I figure it is my job to handle the majority of it, especially during boss and mini boss fights. If dps cannot burn down trash mobs with me using talons and chaining ranged closer to me, then maybe they ought to be focusing more on their rotation and not on bashing.

Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

You have a good point, its same as people dont dodge roll. People should dodge roll way more in PVP. Maybe we get there eventually, well hope so, because dodge/block was invented so people wouldnt cry so much nerfs.

That's mostly the tank's job. They are only one button away from a bash, since they are mostly in blocking stance, not to mention it's the tank mostly who's in the face of the most deadly mobs. Also, they are usually set up with stuff that reduces the cost of bashes and increases the damage. (I am mostly tanking, and I always handle that as my responsibility)

I blame the nerfing of veteran zones some time ago. With how difficult it originally was, that place taught you to bash with the best of them (either that or you didn't make it through).

Actually it's a free stamina boost. Because once they are interrupted you can heavy attack without receiving damage, and they go down on the ground, which is another stamina restoring heavy attack. So it's a sin not to use exploits.

Game's generally not difficult to be forced to exploit weaknesses, but bad rutines and practices stick. So those who really want to kick ass later, should practice the good routine at each encounter instead just fragbombing everything. My two cents.
