Nightblade ultimates question

I'm a nightblade stamina archer. I'm able to get my first ultimates and none of them look very good. Can anyone tell me what's a good one for my play style?

Veil of Blades is what you want to end up with. It's the literal killer ultimate for Nightblades in the Shadow line IIRC. It's a morph so you have to play a while to open it but it does a major amount of damage and heals you while doing it. What's not to love about that?

Eventually you'll probably want the Fighter's Guild ultimate -- Dawnbreaker and it's morph -- Flawless Dawnbreaker. Just slotting this gives you a 5% damage increase.

Imo, Veil of Blades is more end game, whereas the Assassination and Siphon ultimates are more for everything else.

For Veil, you have to stay where you are to get the benefit, mobs have to be in the same spot, etc. The siphoning is a nice stun - which equals 100% damage reduction on targets it hits - and can be morphed to either heal more for less damage, or damage more (tether - life-sucking DoT on targets you hit with the stun).

Also, Veil doesn't heal you - there is a synergy that allows allies to heal, but the ability itself doesn't heal the caster.

I personally prefer the siphoning ultimate. As an archer, I'd recommend that one. Veil requires you to stay in one spot. As usual though, it's up to personal preference.

Edit - forgot the assassination ultimate. It can be morphed to give more ultimate per kill, so it's nice to have on your main bar even if you don't use it. Deals a heck of al otta damage and does it often in single target, too. I can't recall right now, but I think at some point or another it increases the damage you deal to the struck target by 20%.

The assasin ultimate is very useful, it is like a 6th skill because it cost so little you can cast it alot.

the siphon ultimate is also very good, because it stuns your enemies(several) and if you choose soul tether morph it also heals you.

and the shadow ultimate is also top notch especially in group play becuase of the reduced damage you take, also does alot of damage.

Yeah, you're right, the heal on Veil of Blades is a synergy. The real problem with NB ultimates is they're all magicka based for damage. For a stamina NB that kind of blows. Which is why so many NB's abandon them and go with Flawless Dawnbreaker once it becomes available. VoB is useful for a "OMG, I need major AoE damage! NOW!" I only keep it on my second bar and rely on Flawless on the main.

Soul Tether is my go to "oh crap" move when soloing. I can't imagine living without it. When you're up against bosses or multiple mobs, the stun and healing let you get in close and burn them down with melee.

You want to get Meteor , Dawnbreaker and Soul Strike. Death Stroke and Soul tether are still useful for some builds.

Unfortunately VOB is a crappy ultimate after 1.5 unless people ask it in a trial. It was the best ultimate in the game but it was nerfed to crap like most ultimates. You will get better DPS with Meteor or anything else and the reduced damage is rarely needed anymore.

Thanks. I'll switch to one of the siphon ultimates then. Damn, I loved VoB when I played NB heavily last year. I was still using it but it did seem wimpier, I thought that was just my play style sucking.

Maybe if everyone is as good as you.

But yeah, I only use VoB in trials(Vob and Nova), but I would say it is very useful against some hard hitting bosses when you play solo and in group dungeons.

I won't have meteor etc for a while. I'm lvl 10. Also ultimate skills are based off whatever is higher, stamina 9r magicka.
