Daggerfall Covenant: An Observation (Xbox One)

This is a bit of an odd, silly topic, but nevertheless, here it goes... Yesterday, I tried something out, I created an Alt for the Daggerfall Covenant and in my low level state, attempted to travel across all the zones on foot and visit every main city. I noticed a few things; first, I was glad that I could freely travel and despite being unable to quest, it was pretty cool to undertake such a journey. The second thing I noticed was that while there were many players in Daggerfall and Wayrest, everywhere else seemed devoid of players, including the cities. It was jarring to see such vacancy, it almost felt like a Single Player game! Why is this? Are there very few Covenant players? Were they all fighting in Cyrodiil? Just to be clear, this was on Xbox One, European Server.

you don't want implosion from overpopulation
Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

I think the further you go into the game, the less populated the large cities are and by extension, the surrounding areas. For example, I'm in the AD faction, on the xbone, and only the starter city in Aurdion and Elden Root in Grahtwood are very busy. Whilst Marbruk [Greenshade] is nowhere near as populated compared to those 2 cities I mentioned above. Most of those you see in the starter city and the main city in the next map have probably moved onto another game before they get further into the game.

I'm recovering from back surgery, so I have a lot of time to sink into this game, but even then, getting to lvl 30 and around 1/3 through greenshade has taken me an absolute age.

So yeah, the further you stray away from your starting city, the less populated it becomes.

Don't forget phasing applies so that we aren't all overcrowded until you complete XYZ quest in XYZ zone

This happens in every faction, in my experience.

Lots of new players/new alts in the starter areas. LOTS of people in the second area of each faction due to daily pledges. Lots of high levels in Belkarth due to trials/grinding. And lots of people in certain specific cities due to particularly good layout (proximity between bank, guild traders, crafting stations, e.g. Rawl'kha, Riften).
