Double Experience and Drop Rate for NA Servers Downtime?

MagicalSociety

I only play pretty much on the weekend with work and everything. it feels like this weekend was wasted and it's only 1/2 through it. I hope you plan on giving us something for all this downtime as it is painfully obvious that it is an ESO NA Server issue. I would love it if you made up for all this downtime next weekend if you will compensate for this wasted weekend.

I'm in the same boat. Tomorrow I have plans, so I wanted to enjoy quality time with ESO last night and today.

I'd love to see some small form of compensation, (xp bonus weekend?) but customer service's relative silence doesn't instill much faith. I hope I'm wrong.

well XP pots work ONLY when logged in they last like 3 hours but time only goes down when logged in, i'd imagine they could make an xp event work that way.

or just give effected players xp pots, i think like it's been roughly 24 hours since servers went down which is 8 pots so far.

They won't compensate us. They hardly talk to us.

No responses on Twitter about the problem but they will answer other questions. Nothing on the Server Status page to reflect issues. I have two open CS tickets that haven't been responded to in over 24 hours now.

Your poor CS has made this much worse.

    Lost gametime.
    Lost ESO Plus benefits.
Two days of lost item research time.
Two days of lost crafting writs that could have rewarded psijic recipe fragments or Craglorn surveys for possible nirncrux. Additionally, two days lost being unable to restock items for sale in guild traders.

I certainly hope it does not come to that. I really love this game and would like to see this issue fixed and them making things right by the players for the outage and the CS failures. What will it take to make things right? That is entirely up to each individual, but there are many options that would make the majority happy.

Actually, yes they do. The cost of the game and a subscription fee. The EULA is a two-way street. If they cannot deliver what is in the contract between the End User and what is stipulated as "the game", then yes, that is a breech and they do owe.

"Except as prohibited by applicable law and subject to the Statutory Obligations (as defined in Section 1)"

Yeah I agree that what has happened this weekend is a bunch of BS and should have been fixed by now. And even now the problem is still persisting.

But ZeniMax doesn't really have any obligation to hand out compensation towards server downtimes. The Statutory Obligations you refer to only has to deal with player account data like usernames and stuff like that which in itself doesn't constitute for anything other than a first come first server basis for names and account termination.

But in chapter 6 it states that,
"Notwithstanding the foregoing, ZeniMax has no obligation to make available any patches, updates or modifications or correct any errors or defects in the Services... You agree that ZeniMax will not be liable for any interruption of the Services, delay or failure to perform, any loss of Content (including, but not limited to, User-Generated Content and Downloadable Content), and/or Account data (including, but not limited to, Character data) resulting from any causes whatsoever."

It's not a matter of ZeniMax owing you anything. As most have pointed out, legally you sign away the majority of your rights with their stupid EULA. So technically, they owe you nothing.

However, as a paying customer you should deserve better. I understand that "things happen", but how about a little communication with your customers. In the online age of social media is it really too hard to keep us in the loop? Three or four days with no updates or communication is unacceptable. [EDIT] Start holding these companies to a higher standard. If they can't provide the service that I paid for then I will take my business elsewhere. It's that simple, money talks, and when a company feels the sting in their wallet, you watch, three or four days won't be acceptable for them either.

I bought the game, nothing I can do about that now. I bought crowns. Nothing I can do about that either. I like the game and I planned on buying the DLC and additional crowns, but this experience and the way it has been handled has changed my mind. I personally won't support a company that handles their business in this manner. That's my personal decision. It doesn't have to be yours, but when enough people feel the same way then the company will be forced to change or fall by the wayside.

The thing is though, it wasn't a entire server outage. There were plenty of people still playing the game. That is verifiable from things like your friends list and people getting achievements while you can't log in.

Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

I would be content with a simple explanation of what went wrong and maybe a brief "Sorry, we'll try not to let it happen again" if it was their fault. I don't feel like they owe me anything, but it would be nice if they would at least acknowledge that there was a problem on their end, instead of continuing with this crazy attempt at implying that the players are to blame (like with that ridiculous survey, where they pretend that this is only effecting certain users and isn't a problem on their end).

I'll have to agree with the fact they don't have to do anything for us legally. Though it can be said as an example. If you buy food and it doesnt taste right or something is wrong. They can make you a new dish. They dont HAVE to its just proper etiquette. Granted this isnt food but its done to keep the customer at ease. ( Return policy anyone? ) Its peace of mind at best. That being said. It would be nice to atleast see something for your wasted efforts etc. In this case crowns for any ESO plus member would work. You could buy xp scrolls with that if you wished. Its more or less just saying. Yeah that was craptastic but have this as my way of saying sorry. Crowns would not be an issue for them. it literally costs them nothing its digital currency and doesnt effect the game in any real form. The sad part about this situation with crowns though is who gets them? How much time do you think they would have to pour into the situation ( im assuming they already poured enough as it is into fixing it) to get everyone/ the correct people the crowns. They could use the thread where everyone gave their info . But even that would take quite some time going person by person. Its not something they can blanket either. Giving the server bonus xp weekend etc isnt fair because others could still play thus giving them bonus xp doesnt work. You could go by tickets. Not everyone could or made a ingame ticket. once again thats unfair if u gave people crown but not the people who couldnt make a ticket but were still effected by the issues. Double xp for server would just push the player base further from newbies just starting the game etc which is something you need to think about. People just sitting on grinding spots and farming and fighting each other over it. It would just be messy. You dont even have to go the route. You could be humorous about it and give a title like "The Patient" or something. This doesnt effect anyone and most will see it as garbage but its a olive branch at the very least. Once again it would take quite a long time to give anyone anything because there are so many. We'll see what they want to do. It might sound ok on paper but everything has a backlash. Too many times ive seen a double xp weekend ruin the game. You wouldnt think it would but it does. Vanguard: Saga of heros is a example. They did 2 double xp weekends . in those 2 weeks almost every single player hit end game level. anyone who then started was left with no one to play with . All low level zones were a barren wasteland. Then there was a huge rush of angry players who had nothing to do b/c they hit end game level. Not to mention this would cause a huge surge in pvp. Everyone would be sitting in que because they have nothing else to do then get mad about long que times. Dont get me wrong i dont think a single double xp weekend would cause this but its something to think about. You could say you dont care about that and still want whats due. Id then tell you youre a very selfish person and you shouldn't poop where you sleep.

Long story short. What ... do ... you ... do. - Taps chin- The anwser is simple... Nothing. Pros and cons all around with no easy fix.
“All right, I've been thinking, when life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade! Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons! What am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager!
Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I'm the man whose gonna burn your house down - with the lemons!” (Portal 2)

I would have loved to read the pre-edited comments - lol.

As many have said, ZoS does not owe anybody anything with these outages according to the EULA. You are not required to pay a monthly fee to have access to the servers.

However, a good customer service and customer retention policy would grant some small item/bonus for these interruptions.

Yes, I have been and still am affecting by these interruptions. (PS4 NA server)

I am sure they don't have to, and I'm guessing they probably won't, give any compensation. Should they? Yes they should from a consumer satisfaction standpoint.

ESO+ subscribers lost almost 4 days of playtime.
Everyone who couldn't play lost xp, alliance points, hireling mail, undaunted keys, crafting writs completion.

I was down from Thursday night all the way up to this morning. Four full days. I actually canceled my plus membership and not sure if I’m going to reactivate it. Very disappointed with the communication coming out of VOS.
  • AlaskeyLandshark
I'm actually kind of glad. This 4 day server issue that prevented me from playing basically caused me to lose interest in the game (been playing PS2 and metro 2033 redux. Loving em.) Decided to check today to see if the issue was resolved, but apparently quite a few people are still having problems.

I cancelled my plus on day 2 of the fiasco. I'm sure I'll log back in at some point. Don't think I'll ever spend money on it again though, the customer service and response from zos felt like a smack in the face. From the 2 support tickets I submitted I only got 1 response back, the generic "it's not our fault, check your internet and call Sony" email was all I ever received.

Too bad for zos, these types of games are like crack to me. I spent over a hundred since I bought the game and would have spent even more. I've already spent over a hundred on PS2. That's money they essentially directly lost and gave to a competitor with their actions.

The pre-edited comments actually were not anything particularly interesting. Strangely enough, those edits removed where we had both copied and pasted quotes from the TOS. If you scroll through you can still see where they missed a few bits.

It seems odd to me that quoting the actual TOS falls under "misinformation", but meh..., whatever, not going to slay that windmill.

I can't even count how many MMORPGs people have requested THIS sort of compensation in whenever they feel like their time has been wasted. Also the last thing this game needs is a way to level even faster just because of some downtime...

There are already lots of ways to level up fast which isn't very hard to do.
