Windows 10 Upgrade serious problem - black screen

Just upgraded to Windows 10 today from Windows 7 and the game opens up quite quickly, smoother than usual. The log-in screen is displayed as usual but after I log in, the character screen is pitch black. I can see the buttons and my character's on the right but i cant see the character nor the scenery behind. So I click play and go into the game, the loading screen is as normal. I get into the game and once again the game is pitch black. All I can see is the HUD (quest tracker, compass, skill bars, attribute bars, chat) but no scenery, and no character. So right now I am completely unable to play the game unless I'm expected to play blind xD

Is no dev going to respond??
This is practically restricting me from playing the game...

I had this problem when I switched to DirectX 9. There is a simple solution although one you probably don't want to hear about, that is you have to turn down your graphics to medium or low. Well, doing that fixed it for me. I did this on windows 8.1 as well as wine.

I hope that the issue causing it is the same and my solution helps you get back into the game.

I first recommend doing the obvious things you always should do when you did a windows upgrade.
1: get the latest drivers. specially for you graphics card.
2: make sure you checked the sticky for commonly known issue. This includes the one bout compatibility mode and to run as administrator.
3: make sure you installed direct x (the latest version should also isntalle the earlier ones, but if not do them too!, so DX10,9 and 8.
    4: try to repair eso
    5: reinstall eso
6: do a fresh full install of windows 10 and then do a fresh new isntall of ESO.
You can get a full install of windows 10 here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 (download tool and choose to create a bootable media)

When I upgraded my graphics drivers were still there but I just upgraded to the latest driver as I'd forgotten to do so and it did nothing! The driver was the latest one for Windows 10 and DirectX12 so i thought it would solve the issue but the screen is still black...

I had to go back to 344.48 drivers on Windows 10. Unfortunately if you're not on Windows 10 Pro this isn't an option for you. You cannot install anything other than 353 drivers on Windows 10 Home as windows will automatically update it back to 353 immediately. Also, looking at Geforce forums the 353 drivers are broken for many people on many different cards.

Also if you haven't done so already make sure you redownload and install NET framework, DirectX, and C++ frameworks from Microsoft. Seems Windows 10 forgot these, which I found out myself doing a fresh re-install and was greeted with a slew of these missing dlls trying to run another game this morning.

Lastly another thing to try is messing with the Fullscreen_V5 setting in your usersettings.cfg. 0= windowed 1=windowed fullscreen 2= Fullscreen

See if any of those render for you.

Just found out about this. It's a tool from Microsoft to block and hide unwanted updates such as it re-installing the Nvidia driver over and over. With this you can attempt to go back to older drivers:

    http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us

This will give you a list of older and beta drivers so you can try until you find one that works.

You might try this I just posted it and it fixed my issues I don't guarantee it will work for everyone....

Still having this problem, I even tried out what Clarebear suggested but it didn't work :(
It happens for this game; Skyrim works fine. Should I uninstall and reinstall ESO then? :/

Can you try and delete the "usersettings.ini"? Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live\UserSettings.txt

ESO will automatically create a new one for you.

This actually solved the problem, thankyou! I expect there will be many more problems with Windows 10 though xD
