There's nothing better than heading to Velyn Harbor after a long session. The stable, bank, cooking fire, enchant/alchemy/woodworking/clothing/blacksmith tables all placed conveniently beside each inside a small square area. Ahhh, what a beautiful place you have created ZOS.

If there were more Guild Traders there, it might even rival Rawkla as a Crafting Hub.

Back when we could pick up Writs in any zone in Silver or Gold that was where I did all my crafting as everything is so convenient. For the longest time my AD crafters were parked at the place when they were leveling.

Don't forget the cooking fire just to the left of the Banker.

And the Warehouse district is great for looting. And, I think there are more books in that town than in any other town in the game, at least it seems like it.

    Yes, Velyn Harbor is great.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Velyn Harbor is one of the few places I hate most, also the whole zone Malabal Tor (it's odd that I was just discussing this very thing with a friend on Skype during the last 30 minutes!). I can't help it, but it causes me getting nightmares, even when I haven't been in this zone for a longer time anymore.. don't know why.

Yeh I've often thought it's too bad Velyn Harbor doesn't get more use. Great town layout.

This. I love every other AD zone, even Greenshade which was probably my biggest disappointment,, but I just don't feel Malabal Tor. There's something off about the atmosphere of that place.

I have yet to go there but it seems that Elden Root is the best...everything's in 1 large room (all crafting and a bank) with people trading around the clock.

It looks convenient at first glance, but really isn't. You need to go through the door to reach the bank and crafting stations, the cooking fire isn't near the other stations and the traders are outside the tree. Rawlk'ha is undeniably better.

True, it would be perfect if everything was on the bottom floor where the wayshrine is but that would probably make it the most swamped spot in game. It's still the best spot for me as I've yet to reach Rawl'kha.

Yeah, I go to Velyn Harbor often, most of the time actually. I used to go to Eyevea for my deconstruction and bank deposits. Using the portals near the Market District and the Bank speeds up the process, altough a Sorcerer with Boundless Storm/Bolt Escape might find it faster to travel across the bridge, takes a couple seconds too.

Also there are barely any players present so there's a whole of Eyevea just for me all the time - It gets a bit laggy for me in Rawl'kha sometimes unlike in Eyevea, besides I love the feel the island has, my Altmer Sorcerer finds it fitting.
Today we make our stand. Today we take back the Ruby Throne, which is ours by ancient right and the blessings of the Divines.

Interesting observation, maybe it's because by the time you get there, you are pretty tired of the whole Bosmer/forest themes from the previous zones? At least I was.

Malabol Tor does have a weird vibe though, now that you mention it. Perhaps it's that the foliage is very much like a tropical jungle, and with all the threats lurking about, it's sort of like being lost in the Amazon, and a bit different than the typical forest you see in most fantasy games.

You can also level up clothing quickly there....

the shop is full of leather/cloth/steel and the
fence is right behind so if you get caught you
can literally run back there in like 15 secs.....

I agree with the OP; its been my crafting hub since beta. Its also a great place to go to gain XP and to steal stuff when you are just a level 20 or lower. Once you make your way there you can steal the vendor's weapons and armor and then go over to the crafting area and deconstruct them, then kill for a while to gain XP and 20 minutes later steal some more and rinse and repeat.

Hmm I've never considered it maybe because it's a vet level zone for most of my characters, and the wayshrine is a bit of a hop away. Probably still prefer Rowl, and for DC zones Shornhelm is great, save for the alchemy/enchanting station (along with consumable writ board) being on the other side of town.

Velyn Harbor has a superior layout compared to Shornhelm/Cyrodiil, and is about even with everyone's darling Rawl'ka. Velyn Harbor is the most underrated town

I remember I liked it, but something turned me off. Shornhelm is awesome because all crafting stations are close to each other and to the bank and to the wayshrine. Cyro - they are close to each other and to the WS.
In Velyn Harbor everything is pretty far from the wayshrine, I think.

Ssssh! First rule of Velyn Harbor is you do not talk about Velyn Harbor!

Now all the riff-raff from Rawl'kha will move here and make it laggy.

Bleakrock is the same way. It's just too bad that when you finish all the quests there, all the NPCs leave and it's swarmed by enemies. All the crafting stations are still functional, though, but the bank NPC disappears.

I love going into the bank in Velyn Harbor, there is a point where you can hear the best music you've ever heard. I sat there for like 20 minutes just listening to those songs

I think I recall what you're talking about. Might have to revisit since it's been so long. I assume you're talking about a bard, because I recall hearing some nice bard songs. Probably ones by Malukah.

Yeah I think the initial trip from the wayshrine is what makes it seem worse. Nice name BTW you stole mine! I'm "Artemix" in-game :)
