Provisioning Writs - Level 50 Provisioning

From things I have read online, I was under the impression that to be able to get the end game provisioning writs that have the higher chance for the Psijic fragments to drop all I needed was to get my provisioning to 50 and have 6/6 Recepie Improvments.. Is this not true because I got my low toon to 50 prov with 6/6 improvement and I'm not getting the end game ones. Do I need to be vet ranks for this?

You need access to craglorn for top writs. That means Vet.

I've been leveling characters to VR1 the last few months to do more writs.

What If I had someone in a group in crag and I travel to them. That would put me in the main city where you turn them in.. Would that not work?

Nope, you can't get to Craglorn that way. Try it, it won't let you ...

No. If you attempt to travel to Craglorn via another player while under VR1, a "you must be Veteran Rank to jump to that location" error will be displayed.

Fragments can drop at lower levels, there is just a reduced chance.

Also, I think that you have to have advanced far enough in the main quest and have access to Coldharbour in order to complete Tier 5 Provisioning writs, as Coldharbour is the drop-off location for these.

However, someone else may be able to confirm whether you can travel there via group. Even if you can, I'm not sure if the game will give you a Tier 5 writ - as it still may be based on what your character has completed quest-wise.

So, you may only be able to do Tier 4 Provisioning writs until you advance your character.

Can't you turn in Tier 6 Writs to Coldharbor? Or even Zone 5 if you don't have access to Coldharbor?
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Nope, you'll have to respec your character's skills and limit it to Tier4.
Tier5 if you're in a guild/have friends and can get someone from the same faction to go to coldharbour so you can teleport to them (Just once so you can get the wayshrine on your map)

Thanks, crafting writs came out after my Crafters were VR and had access to both Coldharbor and Craglorn.

Weird I just levelled my provisionner to vr1 and still he is asked to craft lv 40 writs with everything maxed in this craft. I have access to both Coldharbor and Craglorn. I will check tomorrow if it's maybe because I ported to Craglorn instead of taking the cart and the game didn't recognize the access? ...

I believe the area where the writ is obtained is not relevant to the location of the drop. AFAIK the writs themselves have their own leveling system which is increased by doing more writs, the more you do the quicker you level and then the drop point changes with each level and not with any increase in the skill tree.

That's how it seemed to work for me at least.

Slightly off topic: Can anyone confirm if the prov writs ever net you more than 10k xp? All my other ones give 20k but my craglorn drop off for prov only ever gives 10k?

First time I hear the writs have their own leveling system. How do you see those levels? If I remember well, the top writs were located in Craglorn but due to complaints of maxed crafters not able to reach those zones they instead put them in Coldharbor and zones accessibles to the player. Still why Sentinel instead of Evermoor for DC? I wonder...

Well, I respecced another vr1 char to have 6/6 in recipe quality and he received a top writ (craft vr5 food and drink) and had to deliver to Craglorn. This character also ported to Craglorn, so he didn't take the cart. He didnt complete main quest or any Coldharbor quests. So why my main provisionner (knows almost all recipes) can't have top writs at the same level as this one. This char has 17 skil points allocated in provisionning compared to only 5 for the other char. That makes no sense.

As for gold rewards, yes provisionning writs give half the value of other writs.

My understanding is that the 10k you get (in blue writing) is for that purpose, perhaps someone can clarify that?

I don't understand "for that purpose", what is the purpose?

I just put 5 pts in recipe improvement on another vr2 char (so 6/6 improvement) and he received rightfully a top writ from craglorn asking vr5 recipes again. So just incredibly, my master provisionner is worse at doing writs than other less experienced ones? Weird... I send a ticket to ZoS but received the usual (no respons), so I just wait tomorrow if by some miracle my main provisionner begins to receive the relevant writs.

Provisioning writs never give as much inspiration as the other writs, but they do give the same gold reward.

As far as writs having their own leveling system, they don't. They are tied to your skill level (i.e. the points you put into the passive that increase the level of item you can craft). Otherwise, my level 50 provisioners, who are sub character level 20, and who have been doing writs since they were introduced on PC (so they've done hundreds of them) would be doing top tier writs. But, they are still doing first tier writs - why, because they all still just have one point in the improvement passive.

I agree that things get wonky when you have 6/6 improvement, but your character hasn't progressed through whatever secret formula they've set up to allow you to complete top tier writs.

I got access to level 5 writs as soon as I got into Coldharbour via the quest line, then I actually got the level 6 drop-off in Craglorn before I even went there on the cart; just as soon as I hit VR1.

It doesn't matter where I pick up the writ; I still drop off in the same place.

That's great for you, and is what happened with me, but it appears that others aren't getting the same writ progression.

Ok, so the knighmare continues with more uncertainties. Today my vr1 main provisionner received again lv40 writs, my vr14 as usual receives the vr5 writs but my 2 newly respecced chars to do the writs (a vr1 and a vr2) that yesterday received vr5 writs, the vr1 received lv 40 writs while the vr2 received vr5 writs. Again, all vr1 and vr2 have access to Craglorn and Coldharbor but didn't do any quest. The only one that did main quests is the vr14.

So I just don't understand, still waiting for a respons from ZoS as I send them more feedback by mail.

If you dont have skill points in being able to use purple and blue recipes you will not get highest tier writ no matter your level

All my characters mentioned have 6/6 recipe improvement ans it's the only requirement for vr5 writs since they ask always the same recipes (3 different for each food and drink) and only one char needs to have the ability to craft 4 units as the others can take them in the bank after that. the quality recipe (blue nd purple and special psychic ambrosia) are not required nor do they give different writs. As a matter of fact the problems comes with my "main" provisionner that has 17 skill points in provisionning and knows all recipes. 3 pts in recipe quality, 5 in recipe improvement, 3 in hirelings, 6 more to be able to produce 4 items per craft. It's just that the problems arises with my highest qualified character. And it happened yesterday with a char that theday before had a vr5 writ but not anymore today.

Only respons from Zos : We will be escalating this issue in case there is further explanation that we have not received related to this issue. In order to increase the level of your provisioning writs, you will need to spend some skill points and unlock the higher level recipes. Since you have 6 points in recipe quality this should fill this requirement.

edit: today, after the maintenance all my 5 vr char received the vr5 writs as it should be, I hope it was a problem with the game needing a maintenance to update some character status ....

This is still glitching for me. 3 days of lower level writs, then yesterday was fine, now it's acting up again. Submitted multilpe bug reports - haven't heard anything.

Yes my stats are up to get the high level stuff.

Oddly, this is an AD character - a friend of mine who also runs into this glitch last mentioned it on a character that I know is also AD....

Anyone with this glitch on a DC or EP character?
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Yes, my main provisionner and the vr1 that had the problem yesterday are both DC. I don't think it's related to faction. From what you say there are still problems today, I was hoping the maintenance mysteriously fixed it :(. Still no news from the team to whom the issue was escalated.

So expecting tomorrow new surprises, ...

edit : as expected some received the vr5 writs some the lv 40 ones. Also the issue is not only in provisionning but also in the other crafting writs. vr 1 char Lv 50 blacksmith, everything maxed only receives writs to craft ebony items while another with exactly same skils is asked to craft void stones items.
