Finding materials

Can anyone help me find some crafting material? All I am able to find is rawhide scraps from mudcrabs and even those are a little scarce now I've been killing them. Does anyone know where I can find some Jute, Iron Ore and Rough Maple? I will be very grateful for any help people offer

Nodes of all three materials are found throughout your alliances starting areas and first zone. Just look around as you adventure and you'll find lots of them. It's easiest at non-peak times when you have less competition for resources. Take your time, look around, and you'll find plenty.

As you level up your crafting skills there are passives that will make the nodes more visible.

    Good luck.

Ah, yes, the challenges of Farming in Zone 1. I used to think that it was a daunting task to farm until I moved up to Zone 2 and 3. Then I wondered how I could have missed all the nodes in Zone 1.

Everyone in the first zone is farming as no one can afford to buy the materials. By the time you move up to zone 2 or 3, then less people farm and instead buy materials.

So, what do you do now? Farm at off peak times, or, go back to the Starter Islands as most people don't seem to farm while they are there. You can also buy the finished mats at Guild Kiosks. If you play on the PC and are on the NA server, send me a message in game, I can work with you to get you all the mats you would need. I have tons of extra ones right now.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I would definitely go back to the starter areas. I've had great luck farming runestones in Bal Foyen (EP).

Wood tends to be on the ground near trees/bushes/scrubrush or washed up on beaches. You can find ore near other rock and the slopes of hills/mountains. Cloth material is trickier, as it grows in more varied areas, similar to alchemy plants.

As mentioned above, obtaining at least one point in Keen Eye is helpful in locating these nodes.

The 1st area that I ended up in after leaving the starting area was chalk full of materials. Do all of the tutorial quest in your starting area, and then get out and start exploring.

I agree the starter areas tend to have a lot of nodes but as mentioned there is a lot of competition during the peak play times. Spending points in at least 1 level of Keen Eye in your favorite crafting professions will help significantly.

    Other suggestions not already mentioned...
    • check your view distance setting and maybe make it further away
    • turn off the grass display
    • explore off the beat path where people travel on and between quests

    Good luck and safe travels!

If you haven't already, grab that passive in each crafting skill tree that allows you to find mats easier. As you approach them they will glow. Even on 1 it's not bad at all. Use whatever level zone you're in to determine what kind of mats you will find. As an example, Spidersilk is around level 36 I think, so I would scout Bangkorai for this stuff as that's what level zone it is. For Jute I'd look around Glenumbra, Stormhaven for Flax, etc.
I've just started crafting myself, but this is what I have noticed anyway.

This is a great suggestion. I'm sure that I could look up the ingredients for each plant, however that does take away some of the fun of exploration, and trial & error. Once I know what potions I will need regularly, I will probably use this tip to harvest the necessary plants to make my own potions.
