I think he's pissed off that none of the patches have actually fixed one of the most important things - lag.

IC on PTS is even more terribad lag wise than now, so whatever magical fix they said they have with LoS checks etc isn't working whatsoever... If anything it's even worse.

Well you can't compare the pts and life server the pts is far less powerfull so it's just logical that there is more lag. Let's see how it will be in september
    PC,EU, EP
Der-über-Zwerge-springt (Argonian, Magplar), Surtur Velothi (Dunmer, Magdk), Jaqene H'ghar (Imperial, Stamblade), Puppyslayer (Orc, Stamdk), Dagoth Era (Dunmer, Magblade), Æthmon Trevas (Altmer, Magsorc), Der-Zuletzt-Lacht (Argonian, Magden), Sir-Lanzeflott (Redguard, Stamplar)

Everyone talks about lag in PvP, I experience hardly any. I mean when 100 people are on a flag swinging at nothing, yeah there is lag, but what does it matter, just means the keep is yours. The sound gets Jack when 200 people are fighting at the same fort, are you guys calling a sound muffle lag? Everyone talks about lag, but I really don't see it

Lag happens when certain abilities are spammed over and over again that cause serious throttling issues on the server i.e. meteor spams. There are known groups and guilds on EP and AD (EU) that use this to their advantage, like yesterday a EP raid came to AD temple to take our scroll. They balled up on the scroll and spammed meteor repeatedly. Everyone was running around doing 0 damage and they took the scroll with no opposition out in the open, yet there were the same amount (if not more) of AD players defending it but nobody could do anything about it. The lag didn't affect the interactables like the scroll and that was that, the just took it - unharmed and left and you could still see like 7-8 meteors still falling down repeatedly in the same spot trying to land.. Once they left the lag was over, as nothing had ever happened.
Needless to say there were dozens of unhappy people raging in the chat about such a dirty and foul move. Especially since EP kept wiping over and over again before they started up the lagtrain, and with the help of it, they took the scroll unchallenged even though there was probably a even bigger AD group defending it and trying to stop them like 10m away from them..

This is the lag majority complain about. It's not internet or performance related lag. It's artificial lag caused on purpose using buggy abilities and exploiting weakpoints in game's code. You can have 100vs100 fights lagfree when these abilities are not exploited. But using them, people can cause severe lag even in small numbers. What i said above is just one example that happened recently. It's never noticable on non-vet servers because most people are unaware of such exploits and also majority do not have the high tier skills like meteor that early so almost no lag is ever present, but not on vet servers.
This is ongoing almost daily in the main pvp server, since.... forever, but even moreso since 1.6

This is true, you can have 5x5 or 50x50 without any lag, but as soon as one of the groups start to spam spam spam skills like meteor and impulse the server lags like hell, let's wait to see the fixes on live, the pts server is much worse hardware wise.

can I suggest that lag is unfixable ... a supposed "megaserver" to serve half the world's gaming population is never going to be otherwise

( and yes I understand that the "megaserver" will be a single entry point to multiple instances over a large co-located hardware network, not a single megmachine)
Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

"WHY not just fix the game - lag first?" @timborggrenlarsenb16_ESO

No matter how hard they tried the powers that be probably couldn't find a realistic way of selling lag fixes on the crown store. ;)
Supposedly there will be lag fixes coming with the IC but... you know....

That is funny for all other mmorpg game i have play and i been on there PTS server the have never lag as much as ESO do for fact is that PTS should/are reflect how it will be on on Live so dont come here and tell me some BS that PTS is less powerful for PTS should be as powerful or even better the Live for that is where company add and remove thing to see how thing can/are work if was on Live for a PTS is work Live server.

I can only assume those that say what lag are Trolling, so ZOS you should do something about these poisonous people on the forums. I say this as this is something you may be able to deal with, as it's plainly obvious that you can do nothing about the lag.

Are you new here? The only person trolling here seems to be you coming out with responses like this. Most of what has been posted here is fact and been officially confirmed by ZoS at some point in the past, both on forums and via custoer service reponses. If you actually read the posts or did some searches, you maybe wouldn't be so quick to dismiss genuine complaints by people who had to endure this buggy mess for over a year, and now it's carrying over to console as the issues are inherent ones in the game code and are hard to pinpoint and fix (as stated by ZoS themselves).

fixing the lag is so easy.

    Bring back deer and torchbugs
    Get rid of meteor
    Revert to patch 1.2.2
Forgot 1.2.3 ever existed and no more trying to "fix" indoor lighting
    PvP is near lag-less

The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. True. And unfortunately that's mainly because of the AoE decreasing damage formula introduced around 1.6. It calculates damage for each opponent in range separately and depending on their position instead of using fixed number, therefore the amount of server-side calculation and client-vs-server data transfer usage is multiplied by the amount of affected targets for each single AoE cast. Before, it was simple ability versus resistance formula. Obviously, you don't need to be a senior programmer to know how much lag any AoE ability spam will cause with the change. (I remember shouting this at the forums pre-1.6. Sadly, they didn't believe. Now they see.)

Of course, it's not the damage calculation method that is bad. It's actually perfectly fair. What was not really considered was how will this affect the overall game performance. The 2 possible solutions are either upgrading the servers and if they can't afford that, they should at least simplify the formula to reduce the lag.
