Wouldn't it be nice if we had a way to do this? Like a Heavy Armor Passive called Cushioning maybe?

So counterintuitive, I don't even know where to start.

You wish to line yourself from head to toe in sheet metal and fall from a cliff with grace?
Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

    Earn it.

IRL'ing for a while for assorted reasons, in forum, and in game.

Yes, and add another passive that reduces Slaughterfish damage. I'd love to have such a thing.

Ya'll speak so sarcastically yet don't know the magnitude of the discussion.

You do realize I was referring to a skill from TESV: Skyrim right?

Figured someone would comment with this but it is naught but ridicule. Slaughterfish are there to keep people within the game's boundaries. Fall Damage however can be used against you in PvP either by someone attacking you after you fall or by knocking you off a cliff or bridge to get an easier kill. Do your homework before commenting people, geez.

And finally while this thread is suggestive it is naught but discussion since it likely will never happen.

Fall damage is unmitigateable for a reason.

Providing any sort of reduction to it would open the gates for PvP cheese on a whole new level that would be fun only for a small minority.

Pfft fall damage and dieing from mis-judgeing a cliff has been in TES since Morrowind cause it's fun to face pam when you mis-judge a cliff.

I remember a skill in Wow about 8-10 years ago where you could basically float down and over for a long time. That was sort of cool.

Morrowind used to have a spell that slowed your descent so you would not take damage when you fell.

In this game, just learn how to ski down a cliff face. You do this by holding right or left as you slide down the rocks. Get it right and you never take any fall damage. You can almost always find a way down by dropping to intermediate rocks or cliffs too. Really helps to be toggled into Walk Mode not Run Mode for this.

Morrowind had a spell called Featherfall that was similar. I wouldn't mind that being in but would you slot it for the rare ocasion it would be useful? Heavy armour being the best way to protect yourself from falling is just silly. Just because Skyrim (much as I loved the game) did it is no reason for ESO to.

    This isn't true, actually.
A plate armor isn't made of metal only, it has soft parts inside it to prevent bones to break from hits (i.e. gambeson), otherwise they would be useless since weapons would be normally effective (sword's job was mainly to break bones, they were "aerodynamic maces")
And if you were talking about physics the mass of the falling object means nothing: X=X0+V0t+1/2gt^2
The OP was indeed mentioning some realistic changes (not sure they should be implemented tho, it could add some unpleaseant exploits)

Most people have pretty much learned how to drop off a cliff with minimal damage myself included but you never know when someone might be skulking about waiting for a chance to drop someone cautionlessly dropping off a keep wall or something. Also keeps outposts etc. don't really have a safe drop path unless you get lucky on a corner or something lol

Would be nice to have a slow-fall spell or potion. Probably not gonna happen but it would be useful to have a counter to someone pulling you off of a bridge

Keeps and Walls of the same are a bit different, true.

So is Dodge Rolling right off a platform in some of the dungeons. Can't really pick my path down when I do that......

What i personally find a bit odd is if you sometimes jump down a 5m ledge, you take some ridiculous damage like 10k, not always but in some places It happens. Maybe lag contributes to the actual distance/height calculations but damn has it killed me so many times.

I manage to get away from a huge zerg by the skin of my teeth, then i jump off a short ledge and bam... Dead by damage far greater than i took from that zerg. And it was not more than 5m high, so annoying especially if you are deep in enemy territory and miles away from nearest shrine.
