Suggestions for a Sorcerer Battlemage...

Hey guys,
I'm a returning player from beta and release. At the moment I have my 1 main character who is VR2 pure cookie cutter sorc. She hits like a truck, but now I wish to create her brother. I would like to go with a hybrid, yet I have no idea how things have changed in the past...9 months. Still figuring stuff out. I know hybrids are no where near as viable as the 'go to' builds, I just want a bit of fun. Not interested in PvP, only PvE for this character. So, are there any suggestions for a Battlemage build. Heavy, medium or light armour? What weapon set ups and spells etc??
Again, not interested in min/maxing...just able to hold his own and survive.
A couple of staples are that:
He has to be Dunmer
He has to be Sorcerer
All due to the backstory of my characters.
Just interested in what you guys would suggest.
