It was stuck at this screen for a while, decided to give it an hour to see if anythign happened and no luck.

Ive crawled around the forums and google trying everything
  • Opened ports
  • Disabled firewall completely
  • Updated java
  • installed newest vc++
  • installed the vc++ and directx included in the "install_eso.exe" thing
  • did selective start
  • did diagnostic start
  • smoked a cigarette
  • checked my hosts file
  • uninstalled flash
  • reinstalled flash
  • tried pointing "install_eso.exe" to a different drive
  • tried every compatibility mode except vista
  • and of course had it running as administrator the whole time

As you can see this has been very frustrating and bad for my health. someone please help!

I had this launcher freezing issue after installing a newer OS. The only thing that "fixed" it for me was to run the launcher in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2 (not sure why "2", not "3"), then I could get it to run.
I have the German Windows, so I can't say exactly what it's called in the English version, but when you rightclick on the launcher exe or shortcut, there's an option for compatibility problems. Windows detected it automatically and set it to WinXP SP2, and it worked.
But I launch the actual game from the eso.exe directly (after installing/updating the game), this still works like normal (without changing anything).
    I hope this helps :)

Edit... for some reason I haven't seen the line where you said you've tried this already, I'm sorry.

I finally got passed the loading screen. The solution was to uninstall VC++ 10 from control panel, reboot and reinstall it using the package included in "install_eso.exe"

I think since i tried to install the vc++ from the ESO installer without uninstalling it from my computer first, it might have gotten corrupted somehow.
