So.. I have a pet monkey, a striped senche mount and 2 VR chars: a vr14 Argonian NB and a vr8 Orc Sorc. Now please enlighten me on how to be competitive and still "play as I want".
That was a trick question as, if you know the game a little, should have realised.
On the Argonian: worst racials ever, my best guess atm to make it viable is make something +healing received related and drown myself in potions (stam or magicka at this moment seem the same to me)
On the Orc Sorc: i was expecting thundering presence to be somehow redeeming for stam sorcs but as it is its just a joke (PTS reports found on this forum), which leads me to a health regen build or a hybrid (im in tears laughin now).
Think I'll do a khajiit templar next!!!

Basically, and as per other posts, some people feel defrauded by the "play as you want" motto.
I was making a point in that direction, and asking for suggestions on how to not lose two vr chars (both of them with all skill trees maxed, except pvp/undaunted/emp) due to bad race/class combinations.
Main world PvE is a joke by how easy it is if you build around what works, regardless of race/class combos, VR and nDSA dungeons with CP likewise, but when vDSA and mostly PvP (i dont do trials so can't comment) come into the equation it totally changes.
I mean, as I stated on the first post, I got a Orc Sorc and in pvp if i put on some light armor, destro and resto staff and focus on shield stacking i can be very effective because that sort of build works regardless. But I'm losing all of my racial buffs in that build, and it just doesnt make much sense to play in robes when you are an Orc, but if I look for options there aren't any. Stam sorc is just not viable, and hybrids are even worst.
As for the Argonian NB, its got some racials that are just "meh", unless you plan on spending a small countries GDP on the crown store. That one im not so fussed about, though.
I was expecting some changes to this situation with 2.1 (1.7), but until now player feedback from testing on PTS hasn't been good, hence the title of the thread...

I can't play as I want since I can't find anybody willing to do a Dungeon run on the PTS NA EP and all the people on my live guilds are MIA . I think I will just switch to rum and find more lizard vids.

For what they actually meant? Not so much.
If you gravitate towards dungeon content, you've got content through the entire game. And, I suppose to an extent you could call Craglorn a massive open air dungeon zone. Though I can't imagine how dull it would be if you went everywhere in a four man group.
If you gravitate towards PvP you're covered, from 10 to whenever your attention wains.
If you just want to find crap and turn it into end game gear... well, there's your crafters.
If you want to do solo content... you're kinda screwed. Orsinium is coming, but right now there's just the Cadwell's stuff after you hit vet. Which, if you've got an alt, is pretty underwhelming. Though you can still end up in full Vet 14 gold gear from that, though it's going to need to come from crafting or another player.
I mean, the first three content updates were supposed to deal with dungeon lovers, solo players, and PvP. But, after Craglorn, the IC got delayed by nine months. So... here we are. And, since PvE players had the most at launch, they were put on the back burner until after group content and PvP got more content.
But, people taking "play as you want" to mean, "I can just do anything I want without thought or care for actually creating a coherent build?" No, no you can't. And that was never the plan. That said you do have a lot more build freedom in this game than most MMOs I've played. The goal was to have content that was tailored for your interests as a player and the kind of content you wanted to play. And, that's not really a lie. You can play however you want! They never said your way would be the best way to do it.

I'm playing breton sorcerer (i always choose bretons, cause they are not mers and have some magic abilities by the lore) in robe with a staff. I'm playing like i want.
I don't want to play lizards or orcs, i don't like them much.
Yeah, maybe it would be better for me to play TESO with my Jedi Knight, but i can't do it here.
So, do i need to make new "play as you want" thread to call for attention to my little problem?

Don't misunderstand me, of course there are more effective ways to builds chars than other. As a matter of fact those change through time, as the game evolves. But the particular cases of my class/race combos illustrate that (in my opinion) it is not so much "play as you want" as it is "defined roles".
Should have just began with locked out class/race combos like in any other game... in fact the initial game proposition was that a mage wielding a big sword would be possible, mages in heavy armor as well, the sort of thing you would expect from a Elder Scrolls title. Sure, I am aware that the extent to which that is possible is limited (eg: prevalence of magicka builds at launch, now everybody runs stam), but just the fact they said (on the Eso Live chat before the last one) that "they love hybrids" makes me feel they are somehow misguided on how the players are actually playing their game.

Play as you want =/= be competitive.
You either play as you want or you play to be competitive. But they don't mix (unless by some freak accident you got lucky and you like to play a mix that is also competitive).
