The Fog Is Terrible

The fog in the game mucks up the appearance and ruins the beautiful scenery. Allow me to demonstrate.

Here are some pictures from Cyrodiil. You can see the pretty sky above and then a gradient fog towards the bottom that looks incredibly dull. The skies look very washed up, which is not good. I understand the reason, so it does not look unrealistic or too vibrant - but this is not how it looks in real life even.

It is not there due to performance either, as you can already adjust the view distance and it does not alter the fog. This is a visual effect that I think ruins the experience. It is almost as if this is how it was created:

Please make the skies more appealing. Create a new fog texture, adjust the transparency - anything.

Pretty sure it's to hide the downsampling in the background, bro.

I'm pretty sure the fog is there so you don't notice the minecraft textured background.

Oh i removed the distance fog using ESOLauncher graphics tweaking tool and let me tell you, it's better with the fog on. The sprites and distant cardboard cutout scenery look absolutely jawdropping (not in a good way). There's a reason they have fog, distance based blur etc enabled by default, to hide the hideous background textures. Fair enough actual usable landscape and textures looks pretty, but distant "out of bounds" area looks hideous as heck...
I'll try upload some screenshots when i next play to show you. Tust me, you have no idea what you're wishing for..

I'm interested to see - though if it is an issue regarding the textures they could always redo them.

I do not generally mind fog, but the current one literally erases the clouds and the colour of the sky so it is always grey at the bottom.

The fogging gives a distance perspective doesn't it ?
Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

Actually, with the fog off the areas feel larger. More like a "world" and less like a "level".

yep, but don't you want to see an illusion of distance as things become less clear the further they are away ?
