The level difference doesn't matter, it's the number of players. Anything more than two player grinding in a group is sub-optimal and everyone receives much less XP.

So if i done like 10% of the damage would i still receive half the xp with 2 players?

What's the scenario? What level are you, what level are the mobs you are fighting, and what level are the other players in your group?

Ive got a vr5 and i was killing those vr9 zombies in alik'r desert, my group was vr11+. I thought i might get more xp from higher level enemies but my xp barely moved after half an hour.

No, you won't get more XP, especially with more than one other player in your group. Two players is the optimal number for XP gain at any particular grind spot.

I'm pretty sure Since your group out levels you by more than 5 levels you get less xp, unless you manage to put a substantial amount of damage on the mobs to get normal xp gains. They did it this way so people don't group with super high levels and just milk xp from the mobs the high level group members burn down

Except, that doesn't apply to characters at VR. As far as the overleveling system is concerned you're all level 50 at that point.

That said, there is an anti-power leveling mechanic that kicks in when you're in a group with a VR that's five or more ranks over you. IIRC, if you don't deal a significant (no idea how much) damage to an enemy, they won't count.

So, you might not have been getting credit because the lockout was kicking in.

It was there to prevent VR12s from power leveling VR1s in Craglorn, where the 12s did the actually heavy lifting, and the lowbies just staggered around in confusion.

so just pairs within 4 levels of each other overall is a good idea within 4 levels of NPCs
