A good all around build / Templar

Hi all Oz here,

I just started playing and was wondering a good all around build I could use for my Templar. Right now I have a spell from each tree. At some point can I have two skill builds? Does this happen at level 15? I would like to heal in the dungeons in the end game but I would want a skill point set that maxis out my healing tree.

So two questions
1. can I have two skill builds at level 15 or is that just a weapon swap option?
2. What skills should I be investing in right now as a low level for a all around performance?

Any input would be great, Thanks, Oz

    Hello Oz,
It depends on what type of character you want to play? When you put skills on your bar, those skill level up the line its in. So if you put puncturing strike on your bar, you are going to level up Aedric Spear line. If you put a weapon skill on your bar then you will level up that weapon skill line. Its true at level 15 you will have an option of equipping a second weapon set and have a complete second bar. So really you should decide on what type of character you want to play and then start putting skills that fit that concept. So for instance, if you wanted to be an archer, you might put Bow skills along with maybe some ranged class abilities like sun flare for instance. If you want to be a thief type, then you might use 2 daggers and concentrate more on melee abilities. The beauty of this game is build the character however you like.

I made a low level battle mage type character for newish players. Its a hybrid between melee and ranged but it concentrates on full magic and not really stamina or health. Check it out and see if you like it.

Thanks for the info and the your time, that makes better sense when you put it that way. I will have to start looking at using some different skills more often than not. Your mage is pretty cool. The reason I choice the Templar is that it is the only class in the game with a dedicated healing tree. "old holy pally here... lol"

    Thanks, Oz

I have a templar that uses 1h and shield. If you're a pally lover it's a good route. In the beginning levels I would swap to a resto staff when I turned in a quest. Just as you gain exp for the abilities you have slotted when you turn in a quest, the weapon and armor you have equipped also gains exp. Doing that kept my restoration staff close to the same level as my 1h and shield when I hit 15. At first you'll have to prioritize which skill lines you want to work on but eventually you'll have plenty of skill points and at times not have anything you want to use them for. Just make sure you have rushed ceremony (and morph into breath of life). I used the following link as a bit of a guide to figure out which skills (and their morphs) were worth getting.

    http://www.dungeoncrawlernetwork.com/patch-2-0-guide-templar-skills-morphs/

It may not be up to date but it's a good starting point and the author gives a rating and his opinion on each abilities usefulness.

Also, if you are Aldmeri Dominion and need a guild let me know. I'm the leader of The Wretched Legion and we are looking for more. Hope I don't get in trouble for recruiting in "the wrong place"

    1. Yes
    2. Honestly... makes little difference when levelling. personally i used skills from each line on my bar so that all lines levelled up at the same time.

my main bar is reflective Light *dawns wrath morphed skill* hits 3 enemies, good for pulling
Magicka morph of sweeps for healing and dps
spell reflect from 1h sheild line to reduce dmg taken
puncture morphed for the armor and spell debuff *increases sweep damage*
and the skill morphed that uses dead bodies to regen hp and magicka to keep me going.

my second bar is a resto staff and skills to heal.

i wear 7/7 heavy 1h mace and sheild.

i spec heavily into passives for mana regen and armor increase, i take so little dmg, i can solo world bosses and dolmens with ease, and have zero downtime, and am also useful in pvp as a healer.

currently a mix of Torugs Pact and Seducer armor and wep. all geared at mana regen and +HP. taking the 8% less mana costs from Seducer set bonus, rest torugs.

cant go wrong with a sword and board templar tbh, non stop killing machine, factor in food buffs for mana regen and literally youre a grind machine for delves and questing.
