Console Play Position

I know it's a console, but who actually plays from across the room?

I've always found I game optimally around 5-10 ft with a 22-24' tv. Using a 19' right now because it was 60 dollars on newegg and that was just too good to pass up.

I'm sitting at least 4-5 feet away from my 50" TV when I play. It's amazing!

But if you consider the size of the screen and distance I'm from it, its pretty much like playing up and close like a PC.

I agree. I'm 5 to 10 feet away. Living room isn't to much bigger than that. Still, couch is to far away for me.

Also on a 50 inch lol. I suppose could be considered PC play.

83" screen, so the optimal viewing distance is over 10 ft & "across the room".

Im within 5-10 ft, same as my PC, but this makes sense since my Xbox and PC are both hooked up to the same TV..

Way too close for a 56" television, but in my quest to burn my retinas from eyeballs and melt my eyeballs out of my skull with 8 hour PvP sessions in which blinking more than 4 times means death I can never be to close!!!!......

But really, I sit way too close and it's probably a latent PC gaming habit to have my face mashed against the screen like a little kid at a candy store window.

Hanging from the ceiling while wearing night vision goggles and eating cheetos. Oh! And I use my feet for the controller. That might explain why I'm so lousy though.

Honestly, about 10 feet away from the TV.

Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

The optimal distance for TVs is 1.6 times the TV size.

So, if your TV is less than 75 inches, 10 feet is too far away.

Not really, your optimal distance is about 7.5 feet

My PS4 is hooked to one of my 30" PC monitors, so no difference in position from PC.
But I have another PS4 in the living room on the 55" TV I can use if I want.

I'm about 6' away from my 50" TV. I had to downscale and give the wife the 60" because the field of vision was ... weird. Now all is well.

By the way: want a weird feeling? Stand up in front of the TV and try playing the game. :D

The real reason I even started this vote was to prove a point to an Anti Text Chat player, who said that the box would crowd his UI and wouldn't be able to read it from across the room anyway. Thanks for your votes so far everyone.

Always sitting fairly close to my screen, even though my TV is kinda big. Always played like this and makes me concentrate more, so that is really why.

Yes. Even people who are on the road a lot. I have buddies who travel for work but still carry their console or laptop with them for gaming in Hotel rooms. I'm actually in the middle of developing a tool for the edge of the bed gamer lol. Let's face it. The edge of the bed is not always the most comfortable position and is hard on the back. Yet a lot of us still do it.

Ha-ha! I play on the edge of my bed pretty much but I actually have a computer chair I roll over to sit on for I can lean back and relax. Like you said playing hunched over on the bed sucks on the old back.

Lol. I feel ya man. I had a computer chair in my room also. I just recently moved across town though. The bedroom setup really doesn't allow my chair anymore. So on the edge of the bed I play. Horrible what I put my back through to play my games lmao.

I lost the vote on the TV size so now I have to sit further away or my eyes get all messed up.

    Should have gone to Specsavers

Big screen is 3 meters away, used by my boyfriend. My screen is smaller and very close to me, comfy as hell.
