Forging The Dynamic Duo

Ok, so me and my brother both play this game, on console. I was wondering what would be the best class combo for us to be a successful duo, the dynamic duo.
There are also a few questions I had such as:
Does the grouping tool make us lose xp when leveling together (quests)?

Me and my brother have notable playstyle differences he is:
  1. More Casual
  2. Less Experienced
  3. Has less knowledge surrounding game mechanics
So basically, he is a beginner, whereas I regard myself a more "refined" player. But him being more casual has some bonuses, such as him not minding what race he plays as, he'll play as virtually anything. I however, prefer to play as imperial for as much things as possible.
Oh and another question:
Is using the synergy of abilities a good idea for duo PVP?

We will be running some dungeons (Just the two of us also, so which dungeons wont we be able to do?) and PVP and of course we'll be doing our alliance's story line, for the skill points!

I particularly don't mind most classes, though I haven't had much luck with sorc or templar. I think nightblade could work with my brother, something to keep him out of the way and prevent him getting nuked. I don't mind being in the open that much, I like survivability somewhat too.

Anymore questions? Feel free to ask below.

If any of you are experienced in duo pvp I would appreciate some tips also, I've been flying solo most of the time. Oh and I'd prefer it if my build could hold up on it's own also, as my brother tends to drop out of the game to play other games with his "Squad".

Me and my wife wanted to Duo all the PvE content and have tried many class combo's but by far the best and simplest is a pair of Imperial Templars.
Get married and run Heavy armor and Two handed to level up and then start doing some tank and healer skills on your back bar.

The problem with this game is that some content you can not do as a Duo so you are forced to waste your time LFG and then dealing with all the problems of PUGs.

I wish there was a 2 player option for all Dungeons.

Oh and my brother can't be an imperial.. Cause I'm an imperial, and he doesn't have the edition anyway.

My husband and I have been playing a dynamic duo since beta. :) We have tried several combinations, for most of the past year we were a nightblade/sorc duo. However, recently we have gotten into PVP and since then we have been running dragonknight/templar builds. This really works well for us. Having a healer is important in both PVP and dungeons.

Nightblades can be kind of tricky. In order to be a really kick ass NB you've got to know what you're doing with it. Not one I would suggest for your brother if he is a beginner. (for pvp anyhow, pve different story you can make almost anything work)

As far as the xp goes, xp is best in Pve with 2 players. It starts to lower a little the more you add. So while you guys are questing, the 2 of you stay grouped (you don't need the grouping tool for that) and quest away. You can definitely do all regular dungeons and public dungeons by yourselves, when you get to the 4 man dungeons you are probably gonna need those other 2 players. Not that they can't be done with 2 but they have to be really good and know the dungeons and their builds very well.

@Vyle_Byte I suppose I could be an Imperial Templar and he could be a DK Dunmer, what abilities would you recommend? Use any synergies?

Most combos would work for both PVP and PVE.
2x Sorc with pets. 1 more heals one more Dps. Probably can do everything except trials
    2x magikca NB.
    1 Templar + any class
    1 Sorc +Any class
    1 Dk +1 Magicka Nb
    2 x Dk

Honestly, my playstyle is always magicka based so for me, I wouldn't chose Imperial for Templar simply because they have no magicka passives. I hear they are viable though my very first Vet character is an Imp Temp (lol) and he sucks haha! I believe most that play that are stamina based. Meaning not as great a healer as magicka. All dependent on your playstyle. If I were you I would play around with it, see what fits for you.

Dunmer is a great choice for a DK. I cant give much advice beyond that because I just cant play them. They don't fit the way I play, that's my husbands favorite though.

Abilities, well again, depends on how you like to play. For PVP I get the most enjoyment being a healer. So most of my abilities are heals, I do like to throw on a 2H for my 2nd weapon for a good damage bar. Again, all depends on how you want to play.

We use synergies all the time, he usually throws down talons for multiple enemies and dragonknight standard, those are both pretty good to use, when the other person activates they do good damage. As a healing Temp I try to get the cleansing purge open as soon as possible, it can be a lifesaver. Also, shards are okay for the stun they do and can be activated as well.

We aren't the best players out there by far, but we have a ton of fun playing together which is really the whole point, yes? Play around find something that fits both of your styles and most importantly, have fun!

Would it be better if my brother is a magicka DK or a Stamina DK if I'm an Imperial templar who is stamina based?

He's probably DPS, I'm more of a tanking type, I can take the punishment. Still really about my own though.. I have an NB tank at the minute, vampire, quite leechy. I'd like to do something new, but what will work with my brother well.
    I've done the following:
    • Stamina NB Imperial (2H+Bow)
    • Tanking NB Imperial (1H+S)
    • Dragonknight Support Imperial (Resto+1H+S)
    • Had a few shots at a stamina based magic user, no luck yet.
Had a few shots at templar, cant seem to stand them.
I tend to prefer my Imperial overall.
I saw a weird build I like, would it be viable at this time? http://tamrielfoundry.com/2014/12/reaver-sorcerer/
I particularly like weird unconventional builds.

My brother has stated he would prefer not to use 2 handed or staves... and would prefer not to be a sorcerer. How helpful...

I like these thoughts. I want to get my partner in to TESO (we only have War in the North that we can play together since neither of us is much of a grouper or can stand MMO).

Does it work well? If so, I'm heading out to buy an Imperial edition for him this coming weekend and then gonna scare us up some TESO action!

@DenMoria a lot of couples seem to like playing it from what I've seen here, so more than likely you will too. It's a great game in my opinion.

Me and my friend go duo all the time and do normal pledges usually with ease, we are both NBs with 2H and archery for the most part, gotta spam that rally when there isn't any healers ;)
