I think moderator's have to much power on here and they abuse their power. I was wondering how we register a complaint against them? Does anyone know?

Good luck with that. As with most forums, their actions are considered infallible. Very rare you see a real appeals process.

You could try the REPORT button in his post.
But I am afraid it would be just quick way into the room 101.

I'm not sure what powers you expect a moderator to have, other than all tools required for moderation (locking, moving, deleting threads, banning forum accounts), but assuming you're serious and you really want to report a moderator, pick a different moderator who you have seen around the place and send them a PM.

Well, better send a PM to a admin, like Gina, with the URL from the "abuse"

Your thread was about text chat vs. voice chat, just like the one she pointed you to. Moderators are appointed by ZOS and can do whatever ZOS wants them to do as they own this space and can decide exactly what to allow and not allow.

    ^This.

The only thread in your recent history that got locked was the text chat one, in which the moderator gave you an explicit reason for why it was closed. there was a much larger and more consolidated thread on the very same subject as yours, and so yours was closed and they asked you to move your discussion points to the bigger thread.

That isn't an abuse of power, that is exactly what the forum mods should be doing.

You could always directly Report the post stating that it is locked, and put in there your reasons why it should not have been. Due to the heavy traffic on the forums, I'm sure mistakes will occur in which they lock a thread for appearing to be a duplicate/flaming/goodbye/petition thread (etc) when it actually wasn't.

    It's called Thread Consolidation.

If you truly do have a justified reason to raise a complaint about a Moderator in the forums, you can create a fully referenced email/message to one of the Administrators.

This should contain a reason why you feel the Moderator was out of turn, the infraction they are accused of, the reasons as to why you feel their action was unjust as well as a link/screen shot of the incident if possible.

All of this should be done in a professional, respectable manner.

9 times out of 10 you will receive and equally formal response from the Administrator you send it to letting you know whether they have taken your comments on board and find it justifies internal action, or whether they uphold the original action of the Moderator.

And before those say "What a load of rubbish...." I know this to be the case from prior experience.

Side Note: IF you send the message with 3 lines of in-comprehensible text saying WTF/OMG/etc then do not expect them to be civil back.

@all: moderation is made by humans, and humans is well known to make mistake.
put a light over a human is a good way to keep him out of the darkness.

there is an appeal unsuscribe feature in the email support section,
this is the only tool i know, but it do not cover all minor situation.

a good idea will be that after x customer report, that should be validated by zos or by customers votes, a moderator will loose his function for a while, or permanently, after x fault.

This is why being a moderator sucks.

Can't not deal with rule-breaking threads, because then you are not doing the job the company expects you to do.

But do something simple that needs to be done because someone failed to read/comprehend/respect the rules and people snap that moderators are abusing power, or any other number of things.

Probably the position I have held that has resulted in the most abuse from customers -- after that, call-center work for banks (people lose their *** when they think you have any connection to what happened to their money, even if all your job is to do is to take down a few notes and pass the information along.)

The discussion that I had posted was more about age difference with players who want text chat vs voice chat. The thread itself had nothing to do with wanting or not wanting text chat. The moderator directed me to a thread that had nothing to do with what my post was about. When I sent them a message asking them to reopen it I was very polite and asked not demanded and also explained my reasoning. But they refused to respond in any way. I feel that this particular moderator has no idea what they are doing and have no sense of customer service. That is why I want to report them.

Anyway, they do their job just fine, if they closed your post then i am pretty sure they had a valid reason for it. That's all to it.

Listen, you might feel like your post wasn't related to the larger thread, but I have read it over, and I would likely have done exactly what the moderator did. It is about the comparison of text chat to voice chat, and regardless if it brought up a sub-topic of age of those who want it or not, it was directly related to the subject of the larger thread.

Having consolidated posts for that type of thing not only make it easier for players to follow (instead of having to jump around from thread to thread on the same subject), but it also allows the Devs to track a single discussion. It also leads to less clutter on the forums, where you could get whole pages of the forum on a single topic.

I get that you might not like it, and you might not agree with how they handled your particular thread, but I've got to say that I think the mod did the right thing after reading the thread you started.

Even if a complaint was filed with ZOS it is unlikely that they will let a customer know the actions or results of a founded complaint as that would violate the employees privacy. Also when complaints are filed, they need professional and civil in order to be considered. Also one justified complaint isn't enough to fire or remove privileges of an employee unless there was a founded complaint that was considered to be major misconduct for the employee. Forum monitoring is needed to lower the amount of repeat threads to lower the amount of space being used. Basically to limit the number of threads on topics already being discussed.

It would likely get reported, closed, and since you knew what you were doing was a violation of the rules, you might even get a temporary ban from the forums.

Your opinion that they unjustly closed the first one might not be as valid as you think. As such, don't reopen the same thing.

This is what I mean that they abuse their power. They close things for no valid reasons and we as customers can't do jack about it. This game is becoming selfish about the way it runs things and they care less and less about the customers as time goes on. I love this game, but I really hope it crashes and burns just so I can laugh.
