A very, very small portion of the PC ESO population plays on Steam, yet, ESO has broken it's all time peak player record on Steam today (source)!

Woo! Slowly, but surely, the game is improving and people are seeing it's worth playing :)

I think we can attribute this to the many sales retailers have been having recently that PC has been starving for.

It's because there were multiple 12 dollar sales this week. As in ESO full account for 12 dollars.

Not knocking it , just explaining the spike on Steam.

Ya I agree. If Steam had sales for ESO, the population would skyrocket. That $60 price tag after 15 months released is hard for a lot of players.

EDIT: It's important to note that all of the sales this week were NOT for Steam, which means the Steam increase is 100% due to popularity increase.

Steam didnt have the sale and the sale on GMG is for the client and not a steam key.

It is good to see ESO doing a bit better on steam.. The late launch on that platform hurt its numbers. Everyone that wanted the game already had it by that point.

Steam version was released 4 month after PC launch, so thats why it doesnt show great numbers.

There might be some like me, bought on PS4..didn't like, just too many missing options, therefore bought on PC.

I also noticed this in game. I have been toying around with new characters on newbie island for the past two days - and damn it was crowded. This felt more like open beta just started, not like a game approaching its second birthday.

I think the hype surrounding the game currently is real. My thanks go to IC and even the console release.

PS: Steam DID have a sale on ESO this weekend because of Quakecon. I think it was 25 or even 33% off.

It still says something that more new players are coming and buying the game on steam regardless of when it happened. Hopefully imp city kicks major A** and then watch all the old players come play again. Also with controller support you will also see more players playing because they don't like Mouse and keyboard!

You're right. I check pretty often and somehow didn't see that there is a 33% sale going on RIGHT NOW on Steam. Good catch.

...on Steam. If we assume that only 5% of the PC population (let's be honest, it's much less) is on Steam, that puts ESO in the top 5 most played games every day *edit* on Steam.
