Looking for a guide to basic and advanced mechanics...

So I'm not sure if anyone has put in the time and effort needed to test some of the stuff I wonder about on occasion, but things like... What is the default stealth radius for a character? Is the hard cap on increasing weapon damage 40? If the hard cap on increasing weapon damage is at 40 stamina, is the scaling from max stamina worth investing points beyond 40 in stamina for? Is there an armor cap? Is it soft or hard?

I also tend to wonder about more basic stuff, like where to buy things and how to alchemy hurr durr...

So, basically what I want is a beginners guide to not being a stupid ***. And also maybe an advanced guide. If someone has maybe created such a thing, a link would be awesome, since this forum doesn't have stickies.

OH! Also things I wonder about!

What is the difference between "wounded targets" and "at low health?"

How much health is IN a "low," anyway?

Is it possible to have a major and a minor buff of the same type simultaneously?

What exactly is the difference between stunned, snared, and immobilized?

    How much wood

    would a woodchuck chuck

    if a woodchuck

I have...I have a lot of questions. Someone stop me from typing them all out in this thread, or I will be here for days. Link me to a guide. It's for the good of all.

Also, to clarify the sorts of issues I want addressed, let me highlight a key difference between two sets.

Nightshade set, 3 item bonus: DECREASE detection radius by 2 meters. Reduce Sneak cost by 23%.
Way of the Air set, 4 item bonus: INCREASE stealth detection radius by 2 meters.

These are quoted verbatim. Obviously, they mean opposite things. When I say I want some stuff clarified, what I mean is that gibberish and inconsistent phrasing of this sort is ALL OVER my character sheet, and there's even more of it across assorted sets that are written by different people.

Add to that the myriad stat changes that aren't accurately reflected in tooltips, and you begin to see my issue.

What I want is someone who knows which of these things are wrong and can share it. A compendium of knowledge that isn't readily accessible, for people who don't know it already.

Someone has gone as far as to insult me for even asking for this, so I figured some clarification was due.

Since I can't edit the OP, I'll just leave this here...

    http://esoacademy.com/

Has a lot of answers to basic questions in one place, as well as up-to-date numbers and some helpful links and conversations.

As far as i can tell, the one set makes it harder for people to detect you. The other set makes it easier for you to detect others. Hope that helps.

Yeah, that's what I had figured too. If that's how it actually works, that's awesome. But just by reading the tooltips, it is excruciatingly unclear, especially to someone who isn't already familiar with the mechanics of sneaking, which are not explained in sufficient detail for the tooltips to mean anything anywhere in the game or official literature.

That's why I started this thread. I really hoped people would be more interested in sharing their insights or test results for the sake of the people who this game's shoddy editing has left mystified.

Just to reiterate one more time, I'm not asking for answers to these questions.

I'm looking for links to places where people have gathered data and answers to questions like these already, or maybe links to forum posts that address some of these issues, so that they are all consolidated in one place if someone who needs them tries to find them.

I'm asking these questions as examples, to give folks an idea of the sorts of links I want. But what I'm looking for is links to helpful beginner's guides, not individual answers.

Handy. Adding to OP with the other one if I can figure out how.
