Why so many sorcs using Dual Wield?

I see a lot of sorcs using dual wield, any particular reason for this?

Assuming you're talking about a magicka build sorc rather than a stamina build sorc (because a stamina build probably uses dual wield for the same reason any other stamina build would - to use the abilities and do decent stamina DPS), it's because you can get higher spell power with dual wield than with a staff. That said, I think most magicka builds that use dual wield only use it on one bar, and put a staff on the other bar so that they can still regenerate magicka through heavy attacks and use staff skills.

For fun. It is a completely different playstyle from destro and imo feels more engaging when attacking your enmies. Since it provides nice spelldamage it is a somewhat viable chioce, but it is way harder to keep your pressure up than with a desto build.

No, it's for spell damage. It will add about 200 spell damage. That's the only reason.

Extra spell damage, at the cost of using a melee range weapon that can only return stamina on heavy attacks.

@eventide03b14a_ESO so basically, if I put DW on I do more spell damage? I do not even need to invest in skills? That would be useful as I'm aiming to get my resto staff up quickly.

It will have no effect on your restoration staff. It just increases your spell damage for the spells slotted on that weapon. The trade-off is that you lose ranged light and heavy attacks.

I did it for fun. Had a 1H heavy armor sorc for a while too. But I don't care about min\max.

My wood elf alt is a sorcerer who also uses dual-wielding daggers.

As others wrote, it's a load of fun.

Wouldn't touch PvP with him though.

DW gives more spell damage that a staff specifically made for the use of magic.... lmao

Next we'll get cloaks/capes that act as shield replacements....

Yeah, not sure what demographic Zenimax was targeting with that. noidea.gif

I wasn't enticed to purchase one.

Before Update 6, I used Dual Wield daggers because you could stack so much Weapon Crit and get a Surge heal 90% of the time on all attacks. It was awesome! Now that Surge has a cooldown on heals...... bleh. It's still OK on single targets, bit AOE vs. large groups is a deathwish because Surge is busted and Hardened Ward sucks on a Stamina build.

If they ever make a Stamina morph for Ward, I might go back to DW on my Sorc.

Some reason duel daggers or swords give more spell damage than a actually magical staff........ yea....... Logic at it's finest right there next to physic horses of Skyrim.

Me neither, but I've see a lot of players running around in them, so obviously there is a market for them!
