Crafting Exceptional Weapons/Gear

I think it would be good for the crafting economy if players could have a chance to craft exceptional gear/weapons that have significantly higher stats than that of a normal weapon. This will add a new element to the game where players seek out skilled craftsmen to create exceptional armor/weaps for them; of course, for a higher price.

-Crafter must be lvl 50 in the skill
-Must have ALL traits researched for that item
-Only a small chance for the weapon/gear to be exceptional
-Exceptional gear cannot be pick up from bosses/mobs. Only player crafted.

Perhaps this could be extended to the consumable crafts as well. Not sure about that though since there is no research for those skills to limit who all can craft exceptional. So it essentially gives anyone who is lvl 50 in the craft to have a chance at crafting exceptional items, which for me is too broad since it is so incredibly easy to lvl to 50 in these crafts. I'm sure something could be worked out for the consumable crafts though.

What does everyone think of this?

    You mean better than Legendary?
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

PakKat "Everything was going well, until I died"
Gary Gravestink "I am glad you died, I needed the help"

If you had a non-exceptional weapon that is legendary quality next to an exceptional weapon that is legendary quality, the one with exceptional would have better stats than the non-exceptional one (both being legendary quality). The same would go for all of the different quality levels.

From the beginning ZOS promised that crafted items would be the best in game, however in reality that is not the case. while some of the multi-trait crafted sets are quite good, they are not the best in game. This fact has lessened the value of crafting for profit significantly.

Which is why i would like to see some meaning added to crafting like this.

Sorry Savetti, My point was a little obscure. The real point is that ZOS has shown zero interest in making crafting valuable in the almost year and a half I've been playing, so probably never going to change. It is clearly not the vision they have for the game, nor the direction they are taking it. Sorry.

Crafting can be quite valuable, I have a wood elf that is mainly a crafter, and have made quite a stack of gold crafting items/sets/traits for other players. Even the upgrading materials for gear are very valuable to other players. Some of those trait sets or rare styles can sell for a lot.

well people pay me to craft tim gear because my gear does have advantages against theres. you just have to research and then make the gear at craft sets hat are throughout tamriel. ( not the ones in cities)

Right... Not what I am talking about though.

So for example. When you go to make a sword, that you researched all the traits for, and you're level 50, there's a slim chance that instead of getting a sword with 1000 base damage, you get one with 1200 base damage? An 'exceptional' version of it?

Sounds neat. Would make crafters work a bit more and crafted gear would have higher base damage and armor than anything found, but limited to crafted set options.

I'm wondering if the trade off for higher base stats would be comparable to looted set bonuses.

Let's dream a bit. What if the 'exceptional' quality did a little more than raise base stats. Exceptional boots increase movement speed 2%. Shield's with 5% lower block costs. You know. Stuff that makes you look between what you got from a boss, and what you made. Then feel that twist in your gut because you don't know what you want more.

This is the concept, yes. =)

Ooo. That is a good idea! This would bring soooo much more to crafting!
