Best way to spend character points

mastertech
Hey guys I'm a DK and I want to be able to tank but also deal quite heavy weapon and magical damage
I was thinking a ratio of 2-3-2 (sta-hp-mag)
So 70 points would be 20 -30 -20
Is anyone running this kind of setup(vets) and is it effective or does my ratio need tweaking maybe a 2-4-2?

By character points I suppose you mean attribute points, where you only get 64 in total.

It's not effective to tank, while doing magical and melee damage. The way to do that is choose what you want to most, a magicka tank or a stamina tank and do dps with the stat you're focusing on.

By just dividing you attribute points you're not going to make a build, it's basically something to fill in the end after your gear and such to complete your build. We need to know more than this to help you.

lvl? race? gear? skills? anything you prefer? weapons? cp?

You could just go half and half with stamina/health then wear infused trait armor and add Magica enchantments to them to so you'll have more magica that way. You can also just focus all jewelry (necklace, ring, ring) on magica as well.

If you have an infused armor piece which increases armor enchantments by a certain percent given the rarity of it you can say a superior gear set of main pieces (helmet, chest, legs, and shield which give 100% of the enchantments effects) would = 478.8 on each piece; that's achievable by using standard common enchantments (420) so you will get more based on rarity of enchantment too, all you have to do is multiply the enchantment by 14% for superior or 17% for epic.

Waist, feet, hands, and shoulders are only 40% of the enchantment so 420 * 40% = 252 now you multiply that by 14% (since you're using superior gear the blue coloured gear) that will give you 287.28.

So let's add all the body pieces together and see how much magica you have 1149.12 + 1915.2 = 3064.32 extra magica (with shield included), without shield it would be 2585.52

Addition: I used 420 as a base enchantment because that was the only enchantment I remember (since I'm not playing atm) that is 420 at common rarity.
You could also get the mundane "The mage" boon to increase max magica but I'd use "The Warrior" for weapon damage.

Note: I did not add jewelry magica enchantments because I forgot how much they provide but most I've seen (vet rankings) provide well over 600-700 so you could just do 650 x 3 and add that to the total amount listed in bold.
    I hope this helps.

    I hope this helps.

From experience, my tank (nord, dk) either focusing on damage or on tanking. Because there's little room to bang the baddies when they are bashing your shield. Can slip in a heavy or light attack, maybe a spell, but that's just to annoy them.

Not to mention tanking is stamina consuming business. Blocking eats away the stamina. Going both magicka & stamina will make you less effective in the roles you want.

You need to make a decision, cant excel in everything at once.

Hey guys thank you so much for all the advice
I'm level 10 at the minute I'm wearing full iron at out that I crafted myself and using a greatsword also crafted by me
I try to enchant my gear when possible and also have started to add traits whenever available
I'm an imperial dragon knight and I love up close combat
I'm really struggling to decide whether to go stamina tank or magicka tank
But the thing is if I go stamina tank I can always infuse armour and add magicka enchantments like the advice above!
I want to get this right from early I don't wanna regret my decision
Is it possible just to go 20 health and 44 stamina to be really strong ? But then am I really vulnerable to attacks
How are you guys running and what's working for you
Also please explain mundus stones to me and are the effects permanent? If you die do you need to recharge at the mundus stones again?

Mundane effects are permanent as long as you don't use another one, (unless you have twice born star trait armor).

I'm a DK redguard and I have 0 in health/magica & I do pretty fine. I don't have any health enchantments besides 1 amulet (which I frequently change as I level through vet ranks, currently at vet 9 almost 10). I don't die at all unless I'm not paying attention or I'm trying out new skills.

All my armor enchantments are stamina as I base it around DPS but soon I'm going to mix in magica since I'm re-working my skill set.

You have a long way to go, you're only level 10 so you can re-spec until you get that "Right fit" going on. I've re-spec'd at-least 4 different times till I found a good mix.

    Brilliant
Thank you very much am I right in saying all your points are in stamina?
So you must be a formidable force then when attacking!
I'm thinking going all Stam may be the way
when your character levels up do your health /Stam/magics go up at all or is it only with skill points usage?
Sorry I'm a noob got so much to learn and understand

I'm a Orc DK Tank and have just changed my build to go from a combo build like you described to a Stam based tank.

I've gone with a 2-1 split on health/stam to start but intend to stick every point I get from now on (49 attribute points at the moment) into stam.

I'm using one hand and shield and full heavy armour to provide the max armour protection I can get, and when I reach VR14 I will be using the hist set i've started to craft to offer more health boosts.

I'll be adding on a mix of Stam and Health enchantments onto all my gear (apart from boots - read that speed is always the choice here) to try and max out the level.

This is designed to be a pure tank, low DPS build for PVE. It wont be very effective in PVP for kills, but hopefully will bring people to me so others can grab the kills whilst they try and get my heatlh down.

Yes health, magic, and staminia all level up you just get a extra point to put it in one of the three.

If you're tanking I wouldn't go full on Stamina and as a DK you get different abilities that rely on magic to increase your damage resistance, reflect damage, and even recover hp. I'd go 80% stamina and 20% health, then I'll use my armor and enchant it with magica so I can keep using buffs.

Yeah I do use Green Dragon Blood with my base magicka as a HP boost, but as i'm not there to do damage, I can use the one hand + shield skill tree to taunt, reduce enemy incoming damage, and increase my block %.

Plus if i need magicka i can always use rings/necklace for a bit of a buff

Thanks guys this is a great help I think I'll go 80% stam 20% health and see how it goes!! If I don't like it I can always respec!!
