I'm on PC, Windows 7 x64. My dialogue and interface volumes keep resetting to 80. I have also disabled the display of FPS and latency in the game’s interface settings, but they keep reappearing on my screen. I also have an addon (Craftstore) that displays inaccurate information until I reload the ui. I don’t expect any support for addons, but I think the cause of the issue could be related. The addon displays, among other things, known crafting traits. It will show some traits as unlearned that are actually known. Once I reload the ui, the addon will display the updated information. This happens immediately after I log on.
The C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live\UserSettings.txt file is not read only, and I've checked that SYSTEM, my user account, and Administrators all have full control. My user account is the owner of the file. I have set the volume to 100 for dialogue and interface both ingame and on the logon screen, but it reverts to 80 if I restart the client or switch characters. I even opened the UserSettings.txt file itself and put 100 in the file for those two settings and saved it. If I restart, it still reverts to 80.
I installed the game to a HDD partition at E:\Games\ESO. Due to lag and load times, I later moved the “depot” folder from E:\Games\ESO\The Elder Scrolls Online\depot to my SSD at d:\Elder Scrolls Online Depot Folder\depot and linked to it using a symbolic link. That seems to have helped a great deal with the lag. In World of Warcraft, I was able to greatly reduce load times by also moving my addons and saved variables to my SSD. I tried this with ESO as well by moving my settings from my HDD at C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online to my SSD at d:\Elder Scrolls Online Settings\Elder Scrolls Online and linked to the directory with a symbolic link. Once I noticed that I was having issues with settings being saved and with addons apparently saving and displaying correct data, I moved the settings directory back to the original location and removed the link. However, the issue persists with settings and addon data.
I’ve contemplated reinstalling the entire game to my SSD, and I may do that at some point in the future, but I’m not looking forward to a complete redownload and reinstall, which is why I haven’t done it yet. Does anyone have any idea how I can resolve the issue with the settings and addon data? If I do decide to move the entire game to my SSD, is there some way of doing it without having to redownload the entire game? I'm thinking that perhaps I can just copy the directory to the SSD and run the launcher and do a repair, but I'm not certain.
