Not necessarily a bad thing, especially if ZOS wants to promote subscriptions and DLC purchases. You lose a bit at the point of sale, gain more over time through people giving the game a chance.

Steam hasn't been a great spot for regular deals for... many years, now. Origin, GreenManGaming, GoG, and others (including even amazon at times) have had much better customer service along with better prices almost always on sales, as well as being more frequent.

As for the pricing, I would think they(the website) buy x amount of activation codes from Zenimax, and what they price them after that is their own. (unless some minimum or agreed to sales are up front/etc)

Like Walmart selling Tide detergent....once they have bought it from Tide they can sell it at any price they want.
