Group Level Gaps at Veteran???????

Hi,
I have just hit Vet3 and a lot of my friends are now starting to get to level 45+ - This means we can all start doing undaunted pledges together. Plus we also want to finish off all of the last few group dungeons we haven't done.
My question does the 5 level gap for you to receive XP/Loot sill apply when you hit veteran level. If I joined one of my friends in his dungeon run and he was level 46 (6 levels below me if veteran ranks are taken into consideration), would I get any XP and drops from the bosses?
If he was Vet1 and I was Vet6 does this count as 5 levels meaning I wouldn't get any XP/Loot?
