As I've been playing up a Nightblade up to VR9 I've noticed something. In each zone where you start getting ores, wood, and cloth materials for the next higher set of gear you're screwed if you're looking for leather scraps. For example, I'm in Rivenspire which is VR8 for AD players as a Cadwell's Gold zone. When I kill monsters for leather they drop Superb Hide scraps which makes VR7-VR8 gear. But I find Voidstone Ore, Nightwood, and Voidbloom flowers all over the place. Which means I can craft heavy armor, weapons, light armor, and shields for my VR9 toon but I'm screwed on leather unless I head to Craglorn or the Alik'r Desert zone or resort to buying it from the guilds. What gives? Why the mismatch on crafting materials? It seems like a pretty silly oversight. Just make the VR8 (or VR5, VR2, etc.) monsters drop the same quality materials as you can harvest for all the other crafters. Don't hate on medium armor, Zenimax.
