Tanks on PS4?!

Hello, I have been playing mmorpg:s since the early day of Anarcy Online. I played WoW hardcore for 9 years straight without a single break, stopped playing WoW in MoP and since then I havnt been playing anymore mmorpg.

So I pretty much soloed my way to lvl 50 and Im now VR2. I have now been trying to do Veteran Crypt of Hearts about 8-9 times playing as a healer with different groups every time. Every single time we have wiped on the first boss due to the boss attacking me as a healer resulting in me dying in 1-2 shots.

My question is, does agro not work in a similar way to f.e WoW? I always pre shield and pre HoT before fight so the tank should have enough time to build some aggro at the boss? I typically dont start to heal until someone is taking real damage (I dont start to heal because some one drops to 95%).

Even though I do the above to give the tank some time to build aggro it always results in the boss running straight to me 1-2 shotting me through shields.

My question is, is this just how it works in ESO? That tanks typically lose aggro really really easy?
Or could it be that the typical console player havnt much experience with mmorpg mechanics resulting in alot of very inexperianced Tanks in the consol version?

I mean I sure I should be able to heal without the boss running straight for me? My gear is 5x Seducer and 3x Sun, Seducer parts being VR1 and Sun parts being VR2 and still getting 1-2 shotted.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks :)

There are 2 different taunt abilities. If your tanking isn't hitting either he has 0 aggro

Agro has greatly confused me in this game. I don't quite understand it's logic and it seems to go for the either the healer first or someone with the least amount of health, generally me.

Just tried doing Fungal Grotto. Yet another Tank who is completely clueless and cant hold aggro at all. Im new to this particular game but I have insane amounts of experience from other mmorpg:s!

Just makes me believe that theres alot of console player who never played a mmorpg in their life and are complete clueless of aggro mechanics. Either that or Tanks dont have the tools needed to be effective. Either way, Ive never seen so much bad Tanks in any game before! Makes me want to reroll tank to make sure the job gets done! Sigh.

I don't think it has to do with the player. My fiance is a DK and she unloads all her attacks and has pretty good damage output. I generally hold back and heal/summon and I still get attacked more than she does. So maybe this game doesn't use the same tanking mechanics other MMOs do. It definitely appears to be more about taking out the weakest first or some kind of similar logic.

There are two single target taunts in the game: inner fire and puncture. There are no multi-target or aoe taunts. Tanks cannot keep aggro through damage alone, and they cannot keep aggro on large groups at all. For aoe situations, your dps players and tank need to root and aoe down the enemies. The tank's job is control here.

Even as a healer you should be running at least one control and/or defensive ability to deal with enemies that come your way until your group can help you out.

So op is complaing he can make friends. You say you played wow for nine year but somehow you dont know looking for raid-dungen is full of people who dont know how to play i call you a lier if so.

Ps this is eso not wow going from your post the tank should call you bad. You're ment to heal before damage is taken and you getting 1 -2 shot mean you built your healer wrong

Don't listen to some of the negative comments. ESO differs from the MMOs you are used to. The tank only has two single target taunts at their disposal, and the magicka ranged taunt is expensive even for magicka based tanks like myself. There are no AOE taunts. Each taunt only lasts 12 seconds, so about every 10 seconds it has to be reapplied. It's the tanks job to hold the most dangerous enemies in the fight while dps burns down the trash as quick as possible.

Now the tank can jump in with an AOE and possibly grab all the initial aggro but it won't last and he has to focus on the boss or the biggest threats after that. Also keep in mind that some bosses have a random attack modifier which the boss can randomly target anyone in the group and there's nothing the tank can do about it.

With that in mind tho, I can usually hold the entire mob group long enough with my initial AOE pull if the dps can scorch the trash quick enough which they usually do.

Also, if your tank isn't doing so, ask him to spin the boss around so the boss' back is towards you to give you time to prepare if the boss turns and targets you.
