If you haven't watched the newest ESO live broadcast about the Imperial City update, here are a few new items that were shown:

Charcoal of Remorse (crafting item)
Malachite Shard (crafting item)
Colossus Ingot (Blacksmithing VR15-VR16)
Daedric Skin (crafting item)
Harvester Silk (crafting item)
Sanded Ruddy Ash (Woodworking VR15-VR16)
Lorkhan's Tears (Solvent for VR15 potions, requires Solvent Proficiency 8)
Repora (Potency Runestone, requires Potency Improvement 10)
Sigil of Imperial Retreat (Trophy, unique, teleport to alliance base, has a cast time in which you are vulnerable, can only have 1 in your bag)
Harvester Epaulets Of Magicka (VR16 light armor)

There is a one-time questline included with the Imperial City in which you can get boxes of Tel Var Stones that cannot be looted from you. There are also daily quests that reward boxes of Tel Var stones that cannot be looted from you.

Tel Var Stones cannot be mailed, and they cannot be traded. The minimum amount of Tel Var Stones required to bank them is 50.

Crafting items and other gear that you purchase using your Tel Var Stones can be mailed, traded, or sold to other players.

You lose a few Tel Var Stones if you are killed by an NPC mob.

If you are killed by a player, they can take currently take all of your Tel Var Stones, but this is subject to change upon player feedback and PTS testing. It only counts as a PvP death if a player gets the killing blow. If an NPC mob kills you, then you only lose a few stones and not all of them.

So, in short, there will still be plenty of opportunity for players who are mainly PvE to get Tel Var Stones and purchase the new items and gear that are coming with Imperial City.

If I understand correctly the TV Stones from the quests can be looted just not the box they come in. So If You keep them in the reward box they are safe. Open the reward box and they are then lootable.

Yes, keep them in the box until you get to a safe spot to bank them, and they cannot be looted from you.

Gotta say, after I watched the presentation and their reasons for how the tel var stone system works I am much less opposed to it.

I do think the amouth of stones one loses has to be capped or atleast have a %. What could work is 50% up to a cap of 500 stones or something like that. Perhaps to make it still risky someone that has above 1000 stones just loses whatever the other person cannot loot.

But I do not think griefing should be rewarded, so perhaps there should be cooldowns on it or penalties for killing too many people too fast.

I agree, and I'm sure that with player feedback and PTS testing it will change. They will more than likely at least implement diminished returns for Tel Var Stones for killing the same player over and over, just like there is already diminishing returns on AP for killing the same player over and over.

I agree with you, but I doubt PTS testing includes griefing tests, so I doubt ZOS will get feedback on it.

I agree with you, but I doubt PTS testing includes griefing tests, so I doubt ZOS will get feedback on it.

But ZOS does know that there are players just itching to grief this system. They don't even need to test it out in order to know that. Just like when the Justice System was announced, there were PvP players foaming at the mouth thinking they were going to get to gank and grief anyone they wanted to.

Some sort of diminished returns or anti-grief measures will be implemented, if not during the PTS, shortly after it goes live.

WOW, this is the dumbest thing I think ZoS has ever done. They're really doing everything they can do to make players HATE each other. I've never written a "QQ" or Goodbye Cruel World post, and I'm not going to now, but this unnecessary mechanic looks like it's just going to make thousands of players MISERABLE, including me.

I'm not looking forward to IC as it has been described so far, and I'm sure as **** not paying for it.

I was worried, but I've seen new light. Essentially, there IS a way to get Tel Var Stones safely - via the repeatable quests. Although, you can earn more/faster if you put more risk into it (PvP areas). Seems fair, I can still get them, but without the risk I will earn them at a slower rate,

40 minutes talking about a giant flesh atronach, 20 minutes of RP events and cat drawings, rest was PvE footage of the Imperial City.

Yes, this is great news for those who don't care to PvP while also giving reward to those who do. Very impressed.

Stop QQing, it is something fun and exciting coming to PvP to make it more engaging and exciting. Who cares if you lose your stones, keep PvPing and get more. It's a great idea that they came up with, adds a lot of play time and more to get your new elite gear so it isn't just handed to you straight away. You actually get to enjoy the content and work for it.

With how many stones drop from basic creature kills you can probably get 50 in under 10 minutes. its really not that hard. So much QQ over something makes the game better and not pointless deaths, play smart and use strategy and you will ahve no problems

Yeah this is true, not to mention the daily quests.

• Normal Mob is 4 Stones.
• Champion Mob is 12 Stones.
• Minor Boss is 100 Stones.
• Major Boss is 400 Stones.

The stone boxes sound like a good idea, gives everyone an opportunity to earn rewards which was a concern

Not mentioned by the OP was the Sigil of Imperial Retreat (good name, that ) which is another way to help you not lose stones.

This is an item that teleports you back to your alliance safe area in the IC. It does cost 500 stones, can't be used stealthed, has a cast time and you can only carry one with you but they'll come in handy for getting to the bank safely if you have a large hoard of stones with you.

So what's to stop the gankers from robbing you every 10 minutes? How do you know they won't be waiting in front of the bank to get you before you can even go in?

@MissBizz But those daily quests will surely take place within the PvP IC, just like any Cyrodiil quests. But you won't risk losing the reward boxes.

Then you lost a whopping 10 minutes. I lose that much just vendoring and deconstructing loot easily.


And you act assured you will get ganked. Travel in a group and your alliance will be there so its not like gankers can stay there safely to be worth their while to get all of 10 minutes worth of loot they could get themselves. Not to mention, there will be lots of ways in and out so therefore lots of areas to try getting your 50 that might not have a ganker. Just to underscore though; there are safety in numbers.


If that is not passable for you, do not go there! You don't HAVE to do it despite thinking in your own mind and the tower and prison do not require you to even go into the IC and provide you with strictly PvE content.
